Doctor, doctor
What does this remind you of? For me it is that time in my life when I was young and didn't know any better. I would also attribute to a similar though slightly earlier era my love of a pair of purple Dr. Martens. And while I was utterly besotted with them and felt that flush of a virgin fashion crush I would not consider those days to be my sartorial high point. So on seeing the resurrection of said booty on the bright young things of the day my heart sank. There is something so unspeakably depressing about a trend coming back around that makes you feel both a little old and decidedly NOT down with the kids. When I wore them back in '92 I had long greasy hair and listened to Nirvana and Guns 'n' Roses and wore oversized mens cardigans and lumberjack shirts that reached my knees and the boots were the natural accompaniment. Now however I wear dresses, nail varnish, lipstick and have a nice handbag. I take pride in dressing like a woman and being a grown up. I most certainly do not aspire to look like Pixie Geldof. I will not be buying a pair. But I can't help but melt into a little nostalgic moment when I see them. Sigh!
