On Your Bike

Acne

I used to want to ride a motorbike. But that didn't happen.

And then I wanted to ride on the back of a motorbike. But that doesn't look as though it will happen.

So maybe I'll just settle for a leather biker jacket. Particuarly if it was  'settling' for one of these little beauties.

Pleats to Meet You

(Images via Net a Porter)

Aren't these dresses heaven? Look at how swooshy and huge those pleats are. Major crush, Ms Burton.

And while we are on the subject of McQueen, I would just like to declare my affection for the De Manta and heroine handbags. Just, you know, to get it off my chest...

Soothe the Savage Beast

Have you heard the rumours that following a petition to bring the Met's Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty exhibition to London there are talks to find somewhere to show it?

Please let this be true. Fingers crossed, people!

Calling all Brides!

Ha! Have you seen how all wedding dress shops have gone to the back of their cupboards and dusted down the dress they have that best matches Kate's and/or Grace Kelly's?

I bet when all brides who are getting married this summer and had already bought their dresses saw hers they cursed the choice they had made in some small way. But actually far better to have something different.

(Via You and Your Wedding)

Can you imagine what it is going to be like next summer? Long-sleeved lacey concoctions as far as the eye can see. I bet you anything. And you'll probably be glad that you didn't do the same. Because no matter who was your inspiration, you're going to look as though you nabbed it. And you don't want that on your big day. So go ahead, pick what you want.

But if you are going to steal, get one by Sarah Burton. One of the gargantuan, uber dramatic ones.

Swoon! Wouldn't that be the most?!

You Can Call Me Al(exander McQueen)

I'm not greedy, I promise. Just one of these lovely items from Alexander McQueen would be fine. So if someone could arrange that, I'd be awfully pleased.

No? Not possible? Oh.

Gold with Envy

(Via Matches)

My colleague, the impeccably stylish Miss Keddie, had these lovely Alexander McQueen shoes delivered this morning.

Needless to say I am seething with jealousy.

(I did get to see them in the flesh, though, and put my hoof in one, so that made the pain marginally easier to bear.)

McQueen's English

(Via Net a Porter)

I love Alexander McQueen. I was saddened by his death. I would love to own something he designed. It will never happen. I understand that people will want to snap up items from his last collection.

But I don't understand why, or how, this dress costs £12,420, particularly when it looks like the model is protecting her dignity by hiding the fact that she doesn't have any knickers on behind a black satin lampshade.

Fools Rush in Where Angels Fear to Tread

(Image via Haneli.com)

Geez! Now Daphers is in on the act. This collection is clearly the go to for all those fearless fashionistas out there.

Can you imagine going to a party and finding someone dressed like that? I think I would choke on a god-damned canapé. She looks A-LARM-ING.

Ugliest Items of 2009

(Image via Vogue.co.uk)

Holy mackerel! I love Alexander McQueen, but there are limits. These shoes are the most heinous, barbaric injustice in the cause of fashion that I have ever had the grave misfortune to cast my eyes upon.

Why Aye Man

(Image via Net a Porter)

Why do I get sent the Net a Porter newsletter?
Why do I open it?
Why did Alexander McQueen have to design this beautiful dress?
Why do I have to love it so much?
Why did I start to think that £900 was a reasonable price for it?
Why did I start to consider buying it?
Why was it sold out?
Why am I heartbroken?
Why?
Really.
Could someone explain it to me?

Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me

Tee, hee! Just as I am writing this the sun is breaking through the clouds. Nice work Reg!

As delicious as his outfit undoubtedly is what I have actually come to discuss is sunglasses. More specifically designer sunglasses. I am the kind of girl who balks at spending much more than £15 on a pair, because I have a tendency to leave them scattered around the country. Or surrender them to the torture that is the bottom of my bag with nary a cloth baglet for protection and then get annoyed when the are scratched to oblivion.

So spending over £100 alarms me slightly. Except that I found the most perfect pair in Alexander McQueen and I am considering it. Maybe I could even get them prescriptioned up to ensure that I have to look after them and so I can, you know, see.

I have a sneaking suspicion you might tell me that I should get down to some cheap boutique and part with my £15 and stop being so dashed foolish.

Neither of these pairs are the ones I like, but cute all the same.
