Well Armed

 3.1 Philip Lim

Is anyone else intrigued by the sleeveless jacket/coat mini trend? I wouldn't want to flash my arms necessarily but with a fine knit underneath I think it could be quite appealing. I bought a vastly discounted short-sleeved Cerruti trench a few years ago which I adore, and it has definitely opened my mind to a slightly unconventional coat shape.

And you know me, I like something new.

Back to School

There is definitely a little schoolgirl flavour to the Chloe autumn/winter collection. But my, what a grown up school girl she is. This girl isn't smoking a fag round the back of the bike sheds and breaking the school dress code with a tip-ex manicure, holey tights and a crotch skimming skirt (none of which I ever did at school, obviously. Ahem!) she is sitting at the front of the class, getting her homework done on time and going to a very good university, thank you very much.

I have to admit I absolutely love it. Grown up, elegant, classy but with a whisper of youth about it so it doesn't all get a bit fusty.

I think I will be scoping out pieces to mirror this look. I am particularly won over by the thought of a navy, black and white colour palate. Yum, yum, yum!

You're Nicked!

I made the mistake of looking at Nicholas Kirkwood shoes for the wedding. And I fell in love with this pair, which are the polar opposite of the neutral pair I had envisaged. But aren't they incredible? I would pair them with this great burgundy Chloe clutch.
Or, if I did want to go neutral (and had a spare £550) then this pair would be divine too. Sheesh, one of these days I'll miraculously come across enough money to buy such beautiful things. Right?!

Sword and Sandals

It is December. It is cold and wet. So what do I want to put on my feet? Wellington boots? No. Uggs? Oh hell no!

No, I want sandals.

Yup, you heard me right. Sandals. I know it's crazy. I know that.

There is nothing that makes the foot look better than a sandal to my mind. It is very seductive to reveal the foot in that way. And here are some of my current favourties.

Why is it that something that is totally inappropriate is so much more desirable and what does it say about me?

A Nest of Vipers

I have slowly come round to animal print. Specifically the leopard. Now I'm truly a convert.

In moderation.

You know, a scarf. A cardigan. Not really all over. (Although I do have that fabulous bright purple one shouldered number that I love.)

(Via Style.com)

But snakeskin? I'm not quite sure. In a shoe? Yes, it can be lovely. But on an item of clothing? All over? That just seems a bit much to me. But these Chloe dresses are heaven. With that 70s vibe it doesn't seem trashy at all. In fact I think I quite like it.

(Via Whistles)

And it even exists in real life! Wa-hey! Whistles have this "viper" print (the name alone gives me chills) which is super cute. But with the shape it is really only suitable for work, but could you actually wear it for work? Is the working world ready for all out viperdom? I do hope so, because I am.

White Knuckle Ride

Having steered away from my beloved colour this season I was pretty sure I would be right back with it for spring/summer. And there are some seriously bright colours out there, and colour blocking. Eeek! So exciting!

(Via Glamour)

So the suggestion of white was going to have to work pretty hard to lure me away. And you know what? It has.

When I saw Kirsten Dunst in her white dress above I lost my heart. Sure, it might be ever so slightly nurse-like, but I can live with that. It is just so awfully pretty.

Then there is Celine:

Rocking the white in quite a clinical way. Might be a little too hardcore for me. I'm looking for something a bit softer.

Which Chloe is definitely on the way to supplying.

There is nothing more romantic than skipping around in summer with a lovely white dress on, is there?

Ahhh! I can feel the warmth on my skin already.

With a lovely pair of flat sandals and a straw hat, cloth tote and some pretty, delicate gold jewellery.

But the white I like the most has to be from Dolce & Gabbana. While their black lace dresses are far too sexy for my comfort zone. But they are transformed in white. So much sweeter and prettier.

Gosh, aren't they lovely?

I could faint clean away.

Hmmm, for once I might actually be looking forward to summer fashion.

Will wonders never cease?

Except now I have truly the impossible to achieve - wearing white and not spilling on it. It's not that I am particularly mucky but I can't keep from dribbling down a white top for love nor money. I don't know what it is.

So, New Year's resolution number 1: LEARN NOT TO SPILL!

Once in a Blue Moon

(Via Elle UK)

I am beyond relieved that the snow has gone. I am due to be flying tomorrow and would not have relished being hold up in an airport for any length of time. But I am a contrary beast and am a little sad that the snow has melted as it was so very pretty and festive. I am also sad that I have no justifiable reason for lusting after these Chloe moon boots. Aren't they divine? Hmmm, I'm sure there will be more snow next year, in the next couple of months, don't you think?
