Snake Charmer

(Image via Whistles)

Hey fashion fans, sorry for my absence... What? You hadn't noticed? Oh. OK. As you were...

Well anyhoo, I have had a fun filled few weeks of being unceremoniously booted out of my job, the ensuing unemployment, a couple of doses of stomach flu and moving to a new city. So apologies for the lack of CONC action, but breath a sigh of relief for I have returned, full of stored up fashion based enthusiasm.

And while I don't have a job and therefore should not be spending money I am dedicated to bringing you up to the minute fashion news and so I will slave bravely on in the face of destitution and I will SHOP! You are welcome. (Plus I'm crashing at my parents' digs so I'm not actually going to be out on the streets for the sake of a frock or two.)

So on to business. The business of snakeskin. As I'm sure you have not been able to ignore snake is the print of a/w. I have been lusting after it for some time but couldn't find the right piece. And was thinking about the trend cop out strategy of going for a more subtle accessory take on the trend. But you know me, I'm no shrinking violet, I have no interest in subtlety, so BAM! All print all the time, and I have treated myself to this delicious Whistles dress. Plus, jewell colours! Or is it the wine hued trend? Who can say? But hmmm! Love. It. Particularly as it gives a nod to the Chloe trend without, you know, full on headbutting it. You dig?

By the Skin of Your Teeth

(Image via the London Chatter)

I really like the use of real (but still incredibly attractive) women in LK Bennett's advertising campaigns.

But I'm slightly confused as to why they have decked out environmentalist Sophia Rogge in leopard print shoes and snakeskin and shearling bags.

Surely that goes against the whole environmental thing. Even if they are faux, it's kind of giving mixed messages.

A Nest of Vipers

I have slowly come round to animal print. Specifically the leopard. Now I'm truly a convert.

In moderation.

You know, a scarf. A cardigan. Not really all over. (Although I do have that fabulous bright purple one shouldered number that I love.)

But snakeskin? I'm not quite sure. In a shoe? Yes, it can be lovely. But on an item of clothing? All over? That just seems a bit much to me. But these Chloe dresses are heaven. With that 70s vibe it doesn't seem trashy at all. In fact I think I quite like it.

And it even exists in real life! Wa-hey! Whistles have this "viper" print (the name alone gives me chills) which is super cute. But with the shape it is really only suitable for work, but could you actually wear it for work? Is the working world ready for all out viperdom? I do hope so, because I am.

Animal Magic

(Via Go Fug Yourself)

I like the quirkiness of combining different prints. I have long been a fan of the stripe and floral combo, and the animal print and stripe combo. But the animal print and floral combo? That's pretty renegade, and on Rachel Bilson I really like it.

It is also making me really lust after a pair of leopard print shoes.

Angry as a Cut Snake

(Via River Island)

I tried on this dress yesterday. And I kinda fell for it. I love the length and the snuggliness (it is knitted). But I also love just how sexy it is. It is pretty fitted. Saucy but in a reasonably subtle way. Outline rather than actualities, know what I'm saying.

But does it remind you of this?

(Via Go Fug Yourself)

Coz this isn't good. Plus I tried a size down from the one I needed so it might have been a little too snug and a little too much like Amber Rose's creation for comfort. And if you remember what Mrs Rowan commented on it last September I'm pretty sure I don't want to look like a lumpen snake.

It's not a good look, right? So what are your thoughts, people? Amber Rose or rose tinted? AKA - cute or not cute?

Animal Magic

(Image via Go Fug Yourself)

My lovely friend Emma, who can do more fabulous things in Primark than I thought possible, and I love a bit of animal print.

We are both in safari mode today, in fact. Me in leopard and Emma in zebra.

But I think it might be quite easy to go too far with it. Now, how to prove my point? Hmmm. Let me think... Ah, how convenient! Miss. Hilton, over here! Holy wilderbeest! Scale it back a bit, Missy, huh?

PS. Did you notice when she procured that enormous rack?

Face Facts

Now, weirdly I have been debating this very issue myself. I mean, the idea of it fits with my whole 80's hair band thing but I just don't think it's right that any person should embellish themsleves with another face, be it in the form of an animal, cartoon, whatevs. It's just a bit, weird isn't it?

I'm happy with an animal print though. Very. I love this little wallet thing from Urban Outfitters in fact.
