Dog Days

I love a dog in an outfit. Crazy for it in fact. A sausage dog in a hot dog bun? Or a pekingese in a party frock. I can't get enough.

I'm also pretty keen on shoes, hats and jewels, jewels, jewels.

So needless to say this accessories feature from the Independent had made me very, very happy indeed.

Nicholas Kirkwood - The Next Instalment

I apologise, loyal readers. Combining my love of puns and my love of Nicholas Kirkwood shoes means that I have really scraped the barrel of Nicholas Kirkwood-based puns over the years. So we've had the inevitable - In the Nick of Time, and In Good Nick, the silly - You're Nicked!, the tenuous - Knock on Wood (Kirkwood - geddit?!) and the ridiculous - Captain Kirkwood.

And even through all this you have stuck by me. I thank you.

So for once I will hush up my foolish punnage and just let you behold the wonder of his shoes. Enjoy!

Pony Up

(Image via Clarks)

I have not been overly tempted to go shopping recently. For a number of reasons. I don't have a job. It is too hot to be in the shops when you can be under a tree reading a book in the shade. I'm not going on holiday and so am not in the market for racks of sale clothes that are only suitable for Marbs. The autumn and winter collections are starting to come in and I have absolutely no interest in thinking about that yet. I am happily sweating and working on my tan right now, thank you very much.

But the tide might be starting to turn because I have seen these Clarks shoes and I love them. Not quite enough to wish that it was suitable whether to wear them, but enough to dream about snapping them up and then taking them out and stroking the faux pony until such a time as I might be able to wear them at a suitable temperature. It is always this time of year when I start lusting after things that are wildly unsuitable but that you just have to have in case they are snapped up before you can buy them and then you live in regret all winter, knowing that item would have made your life 100% better. Hmm, do I put too much importance in clothes?...!

Tangled Web(ster)

I have a new shoe obsession. The crazy fabulous treats of Sophia Webster. Aren't they insanely wonderful?
And now it all makes sense. Because I just found out that she assisted my other shoe obsession - Sir Nicholas of Kirkwood. Ah-haaa!
I know they are kind of nuts but you just couldn't be blue with such a shoe on your foot.

These Tory Burch espadrilles just seem like the most perfect shoe for summer. Great colour combination and a rope soled shoe speaks volumes of wafting about the Amalfi Coast pretending you are Gwyneth in The Talented Mr Ripley. Yes please, I'll have a bit of that!

Tell Me About It, Stud

There are certain shoes that it takes you a while to know how you feel about them. You kind of like them but they don't totally make sense. The Valentino studded shoes are such a pair. They are fairly prim but then they are covered in studs. Whaaaaat? Prissy and sexy in one pair of shoes? Brain. Does. Not. Compute.

I didn't imagine that would really be a problem as I assumed they were a passing fad. The studded shoe trend pretty much reached saturation point some time ago. But they are definitely still knocking around. I also think the heeled version is much more wearable.

Now I don't have a spare £600 to buy them but Russell & Bromley have been inspired and I think they are pretty wicked and marginally more affordable. Which is nice.

You're Nicked!

I made the mistake of looking at Nicholas Kirkwood shoes for the wedding. And I fell in love with this pair, which are the polar opposite of the neutral pair I had envisaged. But aren't they incredible? I would pair them with this great burgundy Chloe clutch.
Or, if I did want to go neutral (and had a spare £550) then this pair would be divine too. Sheesh, one of these days I'll miraculously come across enough money to buy such beautiful things. Right?!

Do You Want to Come and See my Puppies?

When I was a kid that was code for a man who, perhaps, was not to be trusted, who might do things that weren't very nice to little girls. Back when we were innocent enough to find the concept funny.

But I digress.

The puppies of which I speak now are an entirely more enticing thought.

They are the collaboration between Wayne Hemingway and Hushpuppies. And they are heaven.

I remember when Red or Dead was the height of cool, but I had rather forgotten the existence of Mr Hemingway.

What a nice reminder then. And also what a nice way to disprove my theory about the worthlessness of high street/designer or celebrity collaborations.

Because these shoes are super chic and really nicely made. I put the ones on above and I just knew that I had to have them.

The mintiliciousness of them will go with everything and I love their chunkiness too.

I am very excited that the weather is getting warm enough, I think I might live in them this summer.

In the Nick of Time

You know how much I love Nicholas Kirkwood shoes, don't you? Well, my day has finally come. Because they hit The Outnet yesterday and I managed to snag the little beauties above at 55% off. Yay!

Plus Nicholas won the accessory designer award at the British Fashion Awards yesterday so I toast his win with a pair of his shoes.

Perfect!

Slippery Slope

I know that the slipper style has been around for a while, but I am getting more and more obsessed with them. They are elegant and grown up, definitely more so than the ubiquitous ballet pump.

My favourite pairs comes from Chatelles and Charles Philip Shanghai.

Are they delightful?
