Nicholas Kirkwood - The Next Instalment

I apologise, loyal readers. Combining my love of puns and my love of Nicholas Kirkwood shoes means that I have really scraped the barrel of Nicholas Kirkwood-based puns over the years. So we've had the inevitable - In the Nick of Time, and In Good Nick, the silly - You're Nicked!, the tenuous - Knock on Wood (Kirkwood - geddit?!) and the ridiculous - Captain Kirkwood.

And even through all this you have stuck by me. I thank you.

So for once I will hush up my foolish punnage and just let you behold the wonder of his shoes. Enjoy!

Tangled Web(ster)

I have a new shoe obsession. The crazy fabulous treats of Sophia Webster. Aren't they insanely wonderful?
And now it all makes sense. Because I just found out that she assisted my other shoe obsession - Sir Nicholas of Kirkwood. Ah-haaa!
I know they are kind of nuts but you just couldn't be blue with such a shoe on your foot.

You're Nicked!

I made the mistake of looking at Nicholas Kirkwood shoes for the wedding. And I fell in love with this pair, which are the polar opposite of the neutral pair I had envisaged. But aren't they incredible? I would pair them with this great burgundy Chloe clutch.
Or, if I did want to go neutral (and had a spare £550) then this pair would be divine too. Sheesh, one of these days I'll miraculously come across enough money to buy such beautiful things. Right?!

In the Nick of Time

You know how much I love Nicholas Kirkwood shoes, don't you? Well, my day has finally come. Because they hit The Outnet yesterday and I managed to snag the little beauties above at 55% off. Yay!

Plus Nicholas won the accessory designer award at the British Fashion Awards yesterday so I toast his win with a pair of his shoes.

Perfect!

In Good Nick

(Image via Nicholas Kirkwood)

Any of you who have been reading Cute or Not Cute for any length of time will know that I am nigh on obsessed with Nicholas Kirkwood shoes.

I have wanted a pair for years. But I wanted them to be the right pair.

So having come in to a little bit of spare cash I thought "maybe now's the time!" So Annie and I hotfotted it down there, away from the thronging crowds along Bond Street to the decidedly more reserved charms of Mount Street and the glorious Nicholas Kirkwood (via a very unpleasant experience in DVF for anyone with more than a passing interest in personal space). Oh joy! It couldn't have been more perfect. It was quiet, there were utterly delightful and patient staff, delicious hibiscus cocktails and ... the shoes of my dreams!

Pink suede, metallic, betasselled loafer courts. Obviously! I put them on my feet and it was like we were made for each other! Aren't they delicious?!

But I didn't buy. It is a big purchase and I have to make sure I get it right. Which is very sensible and unlike me...

Knock on Wood

I ventured into the utterly delicious Nicholas Kirkwood shop on Mount Street on Saturday.

And it was love. I might, in fact, have swooned.

I would like any of these pairs.

They are so heavenly, how could you choose?

But if I had to it might well be the ones below. How sexy are they going to make your feet look?

And as much as I love Camilla Skovgaards I tried on a pair straight after languishing in the presence of the Kirkwoods and I think they were blown out of the water. Hmmm, might start playing the lottery.

Good on Ya(smin)

(Via Vanessa Jackman)

I love Yasmin Sewell. Well, as much as you can love someone you've never met. Coz I'm sure if we did meet we'd get on like a house on fire. Naturally.

I love her even more in her delectable Nicholas Kirkwood shoes. Aren't they a delight?

If the Shoe Doesn't Fit

The other evening I went to an event here:

Hosted by:

I drank far too much:

And ate waaaay too many:

And fell in love with:

And considering how much:

I had drunk it was probably just as well that it was only a sample and they didn't have actual stock yet. Because otherwise I might be £500 more in debt but with a really heavenly pair of Nicholas Kirkwood's on my hoofs.

Captain Kirkwood

Aren't these absolute heaven?

They make me feel a bit short of breath.

Must remember that I am saving money for my travels...

And that I am unemployed...

MUST NOT WANT TO BUY THEM! AAARRGGHHH, TORTURE!

In Good Nick

(Image via Nicholas Kirkwood)

I wasn't going to post about it. And really it might be too painful to be so open about this. But I think my heart might be broken.

You know when you are feeling a bit down and you just think, you know what, nothing would make me feel better than getting me a new pair of shoes. A really expensive, impractical new pair of shoes. With really, really high heels.

So off you pop to Dover Street Market, your heart in your mouth, your heart set on a pair of Nicholas Kirkwoods, desperately trying to be rational so as to not get too excited and let yourself in for a disappointment. After all when a girl wants something so much we all know she is likely to be deprived of it. Just to spite her.

So I had convinced myself that I wouldn't find anything I liked. But lo! what is this? The most delightful pink suede and burgundy python bit of frivolousness ever to grace the planet? Is that what it is? Why yes! Yes indeed. My heart soared. I wondered if maybe I was wrong not to believe in fate. Had I been too hasty in judging the world to be a hostile place?

It appeared I had. Because not only was this shoe just about the most delicious little morsel I had ever laid my eyes on, there nestling among many others was a delightful size 38, just waiting patiently for me to take them home.

But then the crushing moment came. It didn't damn well fit. And yet I am a size 38. Honestly, if there has ever been something to rely on is that my feet are one size and while the rest of me might take on slightly more Rubenesque proportions occassionally (OK, usually) my feet are always ready to slip neatly into a delicate size 38. Mr. Kirkwood it seems does not agree. For into them my feet just would not go. And I wasn't going without a fight. You mark my words. I tugged at that little strap for all I was worth until the assistant squealed at me bitchily "No, no they are too small!" and I had to admit defeat.

I can't tell you how this makes me feel. I am not entirely sure that I will ever get over it. They might have been the ones. But don't you worry about me. After all, there are plenty more shoes in the, err... sea.

Forward Thinking

(Image via Style.com)

You are going to be very angry with me. Because before we have even got into the swing of summer (reluctantly on my part, I still have days like today when I seem to be wearing mostly black) I have gone and started looking at the autumn/winter collections. And I am getting quite excited.
I will limit myself at the moment to these shoes. They are open toe, so could be worn in the warmer months. And boy, aren't they pretty! They make me feel slightly giddy.
