Back to School

There is definitely a little schoolgirl flavour to the Chloe autumn/winter collection. But my, what a grown up school girl she is. This girl isn't smoking a fag round the back of the bike sheds and breaking the school dress code with a tip-ex manicure, holey tights and a crotch skimming skirt (none of which I ever did at school, obviously. Ahem!) she is sitting at the front of the class, getting her homework done on time and going to a very good university, thank you very much.

I have to admit I absolutely love it. Grown up, elegant, classy but with a whisper of youth about it so it doesn't all get a bit fusty.

I think I will be scoping out pieces to mirror this look. I am particularly won over by the thought of a navy, black and white colour palate. Yum, yum, yum!

Back to Black

All I want to do at the moment is find the perfect pair of black jeans/trousers as the basis of my autumn winter wardrobe. I have very much fallen in love with my James Jeans Hunter so I might get those in black and wear them every day.

And for the days where I will have to be freed of them for the laundry I also like these NYJD jeggings and Toast's black cords.

Contrary as you no doubt now know I am, I want to be wearing quite a lot of black this summer. And black trousers are the devil's raiment because they are just so tedious. So a black skirt it will have to be.

But I hate shopping when I have a very specific thing in mind because you can never find it, can you?

And a longish, but not trip-abably long plain black skirt seems to be particularly evasive. Mullet skirts, slits up to heaven, sheer panels, voluminous? All well and good. But something nice and easy in a good weight jersey? Not so easy to find.

These skirts might all do the trick. I just have to see if I can pin one down and make it work.
