Pale and Interesting

Pastel colours sing out a message of springtime for me. Of course we are somewhat far from the moment when spring will be sprung, and while the first brave flowers are starting to show their faces in my parents' garden it is due to get cold here from tomorrow. Again, relatively speaking, no polar vortex in the gentle hills of Bath, but still cold enough not to want to be something braving life outdoors.

And not to want to think about wearing baby pink lace. But I can't resist showing you the Burberry Prorsum spring summer collection.

These colours are just so delectable and the cuts so very femme.

As soon as I am brave enough to poke my head above the soil I know what I will be copying wearing.

Except, you know, with more than just big pants underneath…

A Last Resort

 Alexander McQueen

January always seems a strange time of year, fashion-wise. The excitement of Christmas sparkle has faded and we are ready for something new. Of course it is when we should really be concentrating on our winter wardrobe as, in England at least, the cold weather hasn't really started. Our American friends will be only too aware that we are in the thick of winter, and are hopefully focused on staying warm indoors.

But we are contrary beasts, myself in particular. I want something new and pretty to ooh and ah over.

So before I focus too much on spring summer there are the resort collections. Of course this is just spring and summer under another name. Spring and summer for those who can afford not to have to deal with winter.

The trends coming from the resort collections are not for wearing now unless you are migrating south. (I wish! Sob!)
Balenciaga

My favourite of them is the crop top. Which considering that my midriff is nothing to write home about, particularly after the excesses of the festive season, is something of a surprise. But I'll tell you for why, shall I? It is because there is no need to actually show skin. Yay!

To a man these looks are layered over high waisted skirts and trousers.

Once we all thaw out I am going to be so into this.

Check Mate

Slebs have been going mad for the Louis Vuitton spring summer 2013 collection. I love seeing such different looks on the red carpet, and it shows that it isn't a difficult trend to carry off (Kristen's short shorts aside).

I love it. So fresh and exciting and new. I hope someone on the high street rips it off is inspired by it.

New in Town

Isn't it exciting when you find out about a designer? Particularly when their work is utterly fabulous. I bring you the spring summer collection for Dion Lee, an Australian designer showing at London fashion week.

I would snap up this whole collection in a heartbeat.

Modern and directional but also easy to wear (with the exception of the crop tops, ahem, and also maybe the 3-D jackets).

I am very excited to see what he has in store.

Greater Than the Sum(mer) of its Parts

I know that it is terribly impractical but with all this grey weather what I really want to do is thing about the spring/summer collections.

And these Antonio Berardi dresses are definitely putting me in a good mood. Particularly the bright pink ones. Gosh, you just can't be in a bad mood when you are wearing pink, can you?
