You're Nicked!

I made the mistake of looking at Nicholas Kirkwood shoes for the wedding. And I fell in love with this pair, which are the polar opposite of the neutral pair I had envisaged. But aren't they incredible? I would pair them with this great burgundy Chloe clutch.
Or, if I did want to go neutral (and had a spare £550) then this pair would be divine too. Sheesh, one of these days I'll miraculously come across enough money to buy such beautiful things. Right?!

Clutching at Straws

 Charlotte Olympia

I do love the perspex clutch trend started by Charlotte Olympia, but I can't be organised or neat enough for them. So for my wedding clutch I am thinking about something neutral and minimal. These are my fantasy picks.

Jacket In

I have a really beautiful DKNY Pure dress that I bought for a friend's wedding before a boy broke up with me, broke my heart and induced me to eat my body weight in chocolate cake every week until I couldn't fit into the damn thing.

Good news, for the first time in a long time I can fit into it, and my weight is steadily getting back to normal. So by the time my lovely friend Annie's wedding in July I will hopefully be about the same size as I was when I bought it.

I am so pleased because I don't think (sartorially speaking) there is much sadder than a beautiful dress hanging in your wardrobe that has never been worn. At last, after owning it for a couple of years, I will get to wear it for the purpose for which it was bought.

And it looks nice with the hat. The only thing is that it is pale and dark blue while the hat is taupe and so I would like to bring a bit more of a neutral shade into the mix. Now, when I go to a wedding I either don't think about a covering layer and end up with a cardigan which looks a bit rubbish or I go the big scarf route which I am bored of. I like the idea of structure, you know, like you have actually planned what to wear over my dress. Plus I will have to walk back to my hotel so I know I will appreciate an extra layer.

So, a jacket it is. I am loving these two jackets. I enjoy and floral and a more graphic print, and I think the neutral shade and navy of both these would work well. But they aren't cheap so I just have to make sure that I would wear them again. Which do you think would be better for more everyday occasions?

Titfer Tat

So I went hat shopping at The British Hatter in Bath on Saturday and I found myself a real treat from by Whiteley hats. It is quite similar to the one above (also by Whiteley). And once I had bought it I started thinking about what would work with it. And I thought how nice a white/cream suit would look.

Now I know why. I was aping the D of C. And she does look marvellous in it, but I don't want everyone to think that I am stealing her style. So what I think I will try and find is a floral dress that has some neutral tones in it instead.

Wedding Belle

Acne

The lovely Miss Keddie is getting married in six months. I am inordinately excited about the nuptials. Mostly because I know that she is going to rock a serious dress. The woman owns Lanvin, for goodness sake, it is going to be a sight to behold, I am quite sure.

So I think it is only reasonable that I have started to fantasise about what I am going to wear. I want it to be amazing. And I want it to be colourful.

Here are some of my fantasy dresses so far.

Wedding Daze

Hello darlings! I'm back!

So sorry to have left you. I was celebrating the lovely Amelia and Harry's wedding in South Africa. Aren't they a handsome pair?

The bride and I both wore Temperley. It was a glorious day and week away.

But I am back now, ready to take on the fashion challenges of the moment.

Let's go!

Every Cloud

I am going to a wedding next year where I will be wearing a very pretty DKNY Pure dress that is pale blue/grey silk with dark blue splodgy flowers on it. I love it. But it is quite safe, quite sedate. I was thinking about juicing it up a bit with a hot pair of heels. And the more I think of it the more I'm thinking a bit of sparkle and metallic would go down quite well.

I quite like these. Especially the top pair (although I'm kinda over the platform, so I wish that wasn't there). What are your thoughts? Or should I go classic with nude/grey/black? I'd like to do something exciting but I'll probably just end up being sensible. Gah!

It's All Grecian To Me

I think I look pretty great in a long dress. I can whack an enormous pair of shoes underneath and look taller and slimmer, which is never a bad thing. And the colour of this dress makes me want to weep it's so pretty. And one I feel I can reclaim since I stopped being blonde. With a sexy pair of gold high heeled sandals and delicate gold jewellery it could be super cute, right? But I'm never sure about Grecian. Does it always look a bit costumey? Or a bit beachy? I am going for understated, grown up elegance, not toga party.

Now the second dilemma, it is for a wedding. Is it too bridal? Or is it just pink enough not to hack anyone off?

Another options would be this navy dress. Also cute with gold accessories. Pretty, but it doesn't excite me quite as much.

Jump the Gun

(Via Whistles)

So would it be totally obnoxious to wear a jumpsuit with my new hat to a wedding? Or would it be Joan Collins fabulous?

Wedding Belle

My lovely friend Kate is getting hitched in May. Hmmm, I smell an excuse for buying a new dress.

Yay!

These are some of the ones that I am dreaming about.

Probably just dreaming.

Rather than actually buying.

But I could think of worse ways to pass the time.

I think the Etoile by Isabel Marant above might be my favourite. But is it too dour for a wedding?

Chalayan Compare Thee to a Summer's Day

Hmmm, possibly a bit convoluted there...

Anyhoo, isn't this awfully pretty?

I love Hussein Chalayan. But from a design/art point of view, rather in a "Oooh! I'd really like to wear one of his frocks that is also a piece of furniture" way. You know? Terribly pedestrian of me, I know.

But this dress is both quite structural and utterly beautiful.

I have a wedding in a year's time that I want to wear something fabulous for. Is it too far away to justify buying a dress now?

What's that?

Yes?

Oh. OK then.

Humph!
