Shelter from the Storm

I've got one of these...

And the day is like this...

With a bit of this thrown in for good measure...

I would really quite like to be in bed...

But there are things to be done so up and at 'em I must go.

The thing to get me through? Dreaming about knitwear. Here are some fantasy items. Hmmm, snuggly! I almost feel better already!

Such is Life

I am not one for a logo'd or slogan t shirts, but I think this C'est La Vie sweatshirt is quite delightful. What do you think? What's your view on slogan fashions?

Red Sky at Night

I think a red dress is definitely going to have to make an appearance in my wardrobe.

I particularly love these two by Karen Millen. Seriously classy.

Under Cover

Comptoir des Cotonniers

I am a cardigan lover. I would say that I probably wear one most days. In fact I am sitting here typing in one right now.

I think they are so easy to wear. I like to wear a lot of dresses and a cardigan provides warmth without entirely masking what's underneath.

But I have started to feel that they aren't really smart enough. You know, for work. I bought a jacket last year, a stunning off white Comptoir delight. For the first few months I barely wore it, feeling as though it was too smart, but I think I have grown into it, and wanting to look smart and structured. Slinging on a jacket is such an easy way to pull together your look. So now I am obsessed with filling my wardrobe with great jackets.

For a first go I will take all of these. And, you know, a lottery win...

Hothouse Flower

Whistles have some really pretty prints in. But I have decided not to buy any more summer clothes this year and save up for some winter treats instead. These could be transitional pieces though, right?

Don't Blame it on the Sunshine

Every time I see a yellow dress my heart leaps about in my chest.

I think I need to just bite the bullet and try and find one that works for me.

And with the weather being a little grey I think it would be just the thing to bring a little cheer.

There's meant to be a shade of yellow to suit everyone, isn't there?

Two Tone

As I recall I was a little bit scathing about the Breton stripe last year.

I suggested that I was over it. That it was passé. Summer dressing by numbers with little imagination.

But I would like to come grovelling back. Because really, what could be more perfect, more wearable for a spring or summer's day?

I might be helped to this opinion by the fact that my Gap Breton stripe is starting to show the less attractive signs of being well loved and the thought of being without fills me with utter dread.

Plus I am out of Islington now. Spiritual home to the Breton, trench, jean and sandal. So it hopefully won't feel quite so overplayed here.

But even if it is, I will just have to shake my head and say well, it's obviously going to be popular because it is just so wonderful.

One Track Mind

(Images via Whistles)

Can someone explain to me why I find these "lounge pants" so appealing? Is it because they are in disguise? Trying to pretend that they aren't really grey tracky bums because they have hitched a ride with a nice pair of heels? Or is it because there is no fooling me? I know how comfortable they would be and that is luring me in, with the mere facade of style acceptability disguising their true nature?
