Toe the Line

(Images via Net a Porter)

Oh my days, aren't these boots the most beautiful thing you have ever seen? Yves Saint Laurent (not yet Saint Laurent Paris, thank goodness). I want them so bad, but seeing as I am exceedingly unlikely to ever, in all my life, come across a spare £1000 I think it is unlikely that I will ever own them. Sigh.

Baroque and Roll

What is it about being or going on holiday that makes you quite take leave of your senses?

My flight to Cape Town was delayed and so I spent rather more time than expected sifting through all of those things that in normal circumstances you know you don't need, but when you have time on your hands and are in a holiday state of mind suddenly seem like just the very thing.

(Images via Prada)

For me it was these Baroque sunglasses by Prada. It occured to me that there was really no good reason why I shouldn't have them. Not even their hefty price tag.

It seemed totally normal that I was considering paying the same amount as a couple of nights' accommodation.

Aren't they awesome? I am still pining slightly. But I distracted myself with Prada Candy perfume instead (rubbish name, utterly lovely pong). Clever old me!

Nowt So Queer As Folk

I have been having some dilemmas about my winter wardrobe. Specifically my off duty wardrobe. I want something a bit casual but not jeans and sweaters. So when I saw the latest issue of Harpers and the folk spirit story I thought that might work. Floral dresses and slouchy knits with leather belts and boots.

The piece showed this dress by Jigsaw, which is terribly pretty. But at £329 the price is beyond ridiculous. That is not a high street price. And no matter how much I like it and the cardigan that they have paired it with in their display I just can't bring myself to spend that much money on something from Jigsaw.

Is this just the way that things are now? Because at those prices I could surely buy something at the lower end of designer.

La Vie En (Lela) Rose

(Via Net a Porter)

I adore this Lela Rose dress. It is demure and elegant and I think it would be nice for job interviews. But I'm not sure it gives the right message to a potential employer to wear a dress that costs more than a month's rent.

The Price Isn't Right

While I think these Alexander McQueen inspired shoes from Kurt Geiger with their curved heels are really rather desirable, if I was going to spend £395 on a pair of shoes (which I wouldn't, honestly...) I would be aiming a bit higher than Kurt Geiger.

(Via Kurt Geiger)

You know, at least in the vicinity of Miu Miu and maybe even Nicholas Kirkwood or Camilla Skovgaard.

Is this just the way things are going? Up and up and up until none of us can afford anything other than Primark? Please say it ain't so.

If the Shoe Doesn't Fit

The other evening I went to an event here:

Hosted by:

I drank far too much:

And ate waaaay too many:

And fell in love with:

(Via Nicholas Kirkwood)

And considering how much:

I had drunk it was probably just as well that it was only a sample and they didn't have actual stock yet. Because otherwise I might be £500 more in debt but with a really heavenly pair of Nicholas Kirkwood's on my hoofs.

A Leopard Can't Change Its Spots

(Via Oasis)

Do you ever think that you have seen the perfect item only to finally come to the realisation, after trawling the shops and internet, that you have probably invented it and it exists in no other place than the recesses of your mind?

But then, even worse, you realise that it does exist, this dream item, the thing that will go with everything, for every occassion, will complete you, will bring you the purest form of joy, but it is Louis Vuitton and so will never, ever be yours. I'm on a part time wage for God's sake! WHYYYYYYYY?!?

Hmmm, great start to the weekend. Gah!

Whole Lo(re)tta Love

I have decided that the tan cross body box bag is painfully ubiquitous and so therefore not for me. You know me and not wanting to be part of the great unwashed. I know! I'm a snob. I apologise, but it's not going to change.

So I was thinking colour instead. And just as I was thinking it this little beauty leapt into my eyeline.

Isn't it divine? The colour is so beautiful. Like the deepest red a leaf could turn in autumn. And the size and shape are good.

(Via LK Bennett)

The only drawback?

It is even more expensive than the Russell & Bromley one. And that's in the sale. Ack!

If the Devil Should Cast His Net

(Via Net a Porter)

God damn Net a Porter! Why do they have to have so many lovely things, all in one place?

Why did I have to see this divine RM by Roland Mouret dress and fall so comprehensively in love with it that any other dress that I might look at will come a very, very distant second to it in my heart?

!&*@!£*@£! Aaaarrrrgggghhhhh!

Captain Kirkwood

Aren't these absolute heaven?

They make me feel a bit short of breath.

Must remember that I am saving money for my travels...

And that I am unemployed...

MUST NOT WANT TO BUY THEM! AAARRGGHHH, TORTURE!

Knit Picking

Dude, you could fly to Norway and pick something up from there for less. Asos: SORT IT OUT! It is adorable, though.

Naughty Step

I LOVE THAT T SHIRT TOO! But have you seen how much it is? £sixty!!

That is unnasepptable for a cotton top in my book.

(Are you aware of Supernanny Jo Frost's mispronunciation of her own catchphrase darling? If not, this will be lost on you and you should progress directly to the next post.)
