The first time I ever heard of Alaia was in Clueless. I love that film. Do you remember the scene when Cher is in the Valley and gets mugged and the tea leaf tells her to lie on the ground, to which she responds:
"Oh, no, you don't understand, this is an Alaia."
"An a-what-a?"
"It's like a totally important designer."
Paticularly when it relates to some fabulous footwear.
