Youth is Wasted on the Young

What are you thinking about all this kerfuffle about a ten year old being sexualised in French Vogue?

While I think that some of the images, clothes and make up used in this should were overly mature, and the pictures of her are quite disturbing I don't think that photographs of young women are inherently wrong or sending out the wrong message, as some critics seem to be suggesting.

The current Love covers with young actresses Hailee Steinfeld, Elle Fanning and Chloe Moretz are beautiful and not creepy just because they aren't over 18.

While obviously it isn't women of this age who are reading magazines or buying fashion, as long as they aren't entirely overlooked, I'm not sure this necessarily merits the reactionary furore that it seems to be provoking.

The Love covers don't show a 10-year-old acting drugged out in a disturbing pose, so I reckon they're fine. Oh hang on, she's French? I think they like that sort of thing; it allows them to mock the anglo-saxons' unsophisticated attitude to sex when we protest.

On a separate subject, please can we have a post on looter-chic? best/worst face coverings etc xx
