Summer Lovin'

As a lovely distraction from all this cold weather. Here are some preview shots of the Whistles summer collection. Ah, that's better, isn't it? Particulatly enjoying the 20s flavour of the last two looks.

Like Moths to a Flame

The accessory most likely  to put a smile on my face?  Gotta be Prada's flame shoes. Glorious!

Ad(ele) Fuel to the Fire

So, as an addendum to yesterday's post, Kaiser Karl has been at it again. Another attack on the weightier of the world.

This time he has called the lovely Adele too fat. To which she has responded that, quite frankly, she doesn't give a hoot what he thinks.

Good on you girl.

And now some of fashion's great and good have called on people to boycott Chanel and anything else that Karl designs.

Obviously Chanel is not my concern as I am not about to sell my first born (no, there isn't one on the way) to buy some. But as stated I won't be buying anything from his Karl collection (or, if he was one of the Kardashian clan, Karl Kollection). So there! In your face!

Hmmm, it feels good to be ahead of the pack sometimes, doesn't it?

Lager Lout

I can't say I have ever been a huge fan of Karl Lagerfeld. But he really fell out of my good books when I read that he had been upset that his H&M collaboration was available in bigger sizes, because he designed a collection for slender women.

As a former fattie himself I would have imagined he might be more sympathetic. But as someone with a few extra pounds I chose to not shop his collection then I am deciding not to shop his new Karl collection now either.

Not that it will be too much of a sacrifice as I think most of it is revolting.

What about you? Are you tempted by any of it?

Gentlemen Prefer...

(Image via Daily Mail)

Loving Rihanna's newly blonde hair. Making me slightly jealous too. I thought I would like the change to dark brown hair but now I'm wishing I had gone blonder instead. Ack!

Cash(mere) in Hand

So, we have established that it is pretty damn cold. So all my thoughts of warm weather clothing have been put on the back burner. But at the same time I don't want to go full on winter, you know. All black and dour.

So when I saw this Brora cashmere sweater it pleased me to think that I could work warmth and a softer shade at the same time.
Jigsaw also have some lovely pastel shades for their knitwear. I am equally enamoured of this cashmere sweater.

Despite at the beginning of winter claiming that I would be going nuts for knits I only actually bought one piece. The weather hadn't really been cold enough to bother. But now it is, so I might indulge.

Much of the cheaper (more trend based) knitwear has been really oversized this season. But when you are not of demure proportions yourself it feels better to keep things marginally more fitted. I love both these Jigsaw cardigans. Particularly the one above. If only it came in a more interesting colour than "sand".

But of course, contrary Mary that I am I really love this Whistles sweater dress which is totally outsized. But oh so snuggly! It would look great with my new Belstaff boots. I just have to work out if there is enough winter left to merit it.

Long Live the Queen!

I love the Queen. I particularly love her love of colour and coordinating up the wazoo. So thanks to the Daily Telegraph here are some great looks.

A Girl in Sheep's Clothing

Lordy, winter has arrived. My feet were so cold by the time I got to work on Friday that it took about an hour to defrost them.

My colleagues are fans on the shearling boot and persuaded me (although, really, it didn't take that much) to get some. But I've never considered an Ugg to be my style. But the warmth... THE WARMTH! How could I not have that in my life? And when we got let out of work an hour early it really seemed like a sign as I would be able to make it to my favourite boutique, Lux, to have a look at their reduced Australian Luxe boots.

The pair above were ones that I lusted after a couple of months ago but their price was prohibitive. But at two thirds off now they didn't seem so bad. Now the question was, could I compromise my style for cosy toes? I put them on and while it was like sliding my feet into heaven I knew that they just weren't for me.

Fortunately they also had the Belstaff Jenn Gumlight boot. Sheepskin lined, but leather. A bit more practical, a bit cooler, and at the same price, it really wasn't too much to work out. Except that my bulky calves mean that I will have to make more holes in the straps. But that is a little niggle for a really perfect, and warm pair of boots. Here's to happy feet. Yay!

I love getting out of my outside shoes and getting in to slippers when I get home. But my slippers aren't very cosy. They are of the felt and rubber sole variety. Awfully comfortable and pleasant to pootle around in but not that warm. And with this weather what my feet were crying out for was some snugglebility.

So I looked desperately around and couldn't find anything that wasn't hideously grannified. So I did the unthinkable and considered by the Ugg slippers above. Gosh, my feet would be cosy in those. Hmmm. But fortunately the £100 price tag stopped me in my tracks.

Then I happened upon these treats. My little wolf or bear paws. Completely ridiculous, of course, but my feet have never been happier. The dog was a little perturbed, but once we had established that a couple of moggies hadn't snuck into the house he was happier, if still a little unsure. He keeps sniffing them. But he had better get used to them sharpish because they aren't coming off my feet any time soon.

Now, do you reckon I could get away with wearing them at work...?

Pretty Pleats

How adorable are these sweet little dresses from Oasis?

I want every one. But would settle for the first if I had to choose. Perfect summer dressing. Though I wonder if they are a little short.

The Truth Wills Out

I don't like the whole Jack Wills schtick. And I don't think Aubin & Wills is much better, but certainly more expensive. So I don't know if I should publicise that I love these. And would happily wear them if it wouldn't make me a total hypocrite.
