And it Was all Yellow

(Image via Oasis)

Isn't the weather terrible? (In England anyway, lucky you who are somewhere brighter.)

I am sad that I am developing webbed feet because they are going to make shopping for sandals even trickier than usual, but if the deluge continues I suppose that won't be too much of a concern.

But I am even sadder that there are lovely things like this dress that won't find a happy loving home because the weather is so heinous. I started off optimitically, yes, it might be bad now but it isn't really and truly summer yet. But the pessimists appear to be gloating now. They knew it was going to be a bad summer and they were right. It is July now and no improvement is on the horizon. So maybe it will just be wet and lovely summery treats will be consigned to the bargain bin. Sniff!

Pretty Pleats

How adorable are these sweet little dresses from Oasis?

I want every one. But would settle for the first if I had to choose. Perfect summer dressing. Though I wonder if they are a little short.

Midnight at the Oasis

Wahay! I have broken the Oasis curse. Was desperately looking for suitable work tops but not desperate enough to go into Banana Republic (yawnsville). So I ventured in with terribly low expectations, but out I skipped with three lovely and perfectly respectable work tops.

I know I shouldn't say such things, because it is practically sacrilegeous, but there is really something to be said (particularly in these cooler months) for having a work outfit you can bung on and look reputable without trying too hard. Wouldn't you agree?

As You Pleats

(Image via Oasis)

Isn't this dress heaven? It is so feminine, demure and pretty. Sigh!

Only problem is that it's from Oasis. And I can't remember when I last went in there and found something that I thought was worth buying.

Maybe the time has finally come.

Jump Through Hoops

(Image via Oasis)

I am feeling a bit blue, but I've got a party to go to tomorrow night. So what could put me more in the mood than something nice to wear?

I'm rather taken with this jumpsuit from Oasis.

I might go and try it on after work and see if I look fabulous in it. Fingers crossed.

Cold Shoulder

(Via Oasis)

I find it quite funny (as in hmmmm rather than ha ha) that pieces in leather can often appear quite frumpy.

Particularly on those with generous bodies.

A stiff leather over an abundant bosom produces a matronly shelf. Which surely goes entirely against the suggestion of leather being sexy and a bit deviant.

But I think this dress is lovely, so it might be worth trying it on to ascertain if I look lovely and slightly sexy or like a stern hausfraus.

Spring Break

It's February! Yeah! And this half of CONC is back from her travels.

Here is me in front of Everest and Nuptse. Pretty awesome, huh?!

And if there is anything that a hiking trip gives me (other than a more rounded picture of the world and different cultures and the infinite beauty there is to discover, obviously) it is a desire to get out of my practical walking clothes and boots and start thinking about frivolous fashion!

Honestly, I don't know that I have been this excited about the thought of spring and summer clothes since, well... ever.

Armed with magazines I decided my first must have purchase was to be a trench. You know, flirty and cute, classic but adaptable. However, this was to be quite a challenge as I have tried on many a trench in the past and each venture down Trench Avenue had ended in tears with me just not being able to find one that suited me. So I decided that if my trench dreams were to be fulfilled this year then I would have to start a campaign, set aside a day, go everywhere that might be shielding a trench and flush them out, try and try and try on again until I found one. I would prevail!

But in reality I ended up walking in to Oasis, finding this:

Tried it on, tweaked it a little, fell in love a little, proceeded to the check out and the little treat was mine! Easy as.

Let's hope that all my shopping whims will be catered to as easily! Although, on second thoughts, that might end up being excessively pricey... Err...

Keep it Zipped

(Image via Handbag.com)

Is a full length zip up the front of a dress too suggestive/potentially perilous for work?

Carried Away

Yes! I'm so pleased you got that one. Round of applause! I was fretting about the shoe and accessory issue though. That dress has got a lot to say for itself, a heel too high or a necklace too sparkly could be a step far too far.

I like the Oasis necklace theoretically, but my nose twitched when I saw it close up. It's the brown, and the slightly pearlised beads that got me. But something similar with no brown would be very nice indeed. (You know my Mum wore a brown dress when she was a bridesmaid in the 70's. I hope Elle doesn't get any weird ideas like that. Brown in general makes me feel itchy on a molecular level.)
Personally, I would go with a very delicate gold chain just on the collar bone, but that's because I can't wear a chunky bolderish necklace. I'm not sure why, but I always look really DONE in a (bad) Alexis Carrington kinda way. The problem is I haven't been able to find just a nice gold chain anywhere, hence the old Carrie necklace being dragged about above.

What about the shoe, dear?

Accessory Before the Fact

Oh, I'm so glad you love it. I kind of loved it too online, and then your response gave me the confidence to go and try it. I'm not sure I would have done otherwise. And I am so glad I did because I LOVE IT! I am not sure it is terribly me. But maybe it is the new positive Lucinda. At least I hope so because I bought it.

In the shop they had accessorised it with this necklace. I quite liked how it looked, but I am not in love with the necklace itself, more the "concept". What would you put with it?

Glad Hand

(Image via Matches)

I need a glad in my life. It has to happen, and more or less immediately. I hated them at first, you know, ten years ago or whenever they first became the thing. I was sure they wouldn't be around for long. But they have been around every summer ever since and in the interim I have grown first fond and now obsessive about them. I MUST HAVE A PAIR!!

I rather like this pair by Balenciaga, although even they are in the sale are still more than I would be happy to spend on a sandal. About two and a half times more.

But then I saw these:

At first I was incensed by such egregious theft of a design, but then I thought that I probably need them in my life. Especially at £15. Foolish not to, wouldn't you say? They aren't anywhere near as cute as the others but I can't buy them anyway, so I should just get over it, right?

But then there are these:

Which I have loved since time immemorial. Well, at least since December. And would be just the ticket with the old white jeans. Dilemmas all round, how can I cope?
Oh, by the way, the KG slip ons were an abberation. Ack!

A Tribe Called Quest

(Image via Oasis)
I saw these in Oasis the other day. I find myself quite taken with them. They are fierce, and the colour is prettier than it looks here. I also feel that they might go really well with the skinny white jeans that I bought on Saturday. Yes! You heard me right! I really went there.

I fear they might be something that could be part of the "tribal" trend, though, and we all know how I feel about that.

Would you walk on the other side of the street if I wore these?
