The High Life

I have been craving a pair of wedge high tops for a while now. Mostly the Isabel Marant pair above. I have tried to put them out of my mind, but it is evident that they just won't be silenced.

The Isabel Marant pair are waaay out of my budget but Ash have a few nice pairs to chose from. I think a pair in black would work best for me.

And I would like to pair them with these high waisted Current/Elliott skinnies. But I don't know if I am just kidding myself that I would be able to carry them off.

I don't imagine that these DKNY wedges are very practical or comfortable but they sure are pretty.

If the Shoe Fits

You might well have gathered that I am an impulsive type. I get something in my head and I have to have it.

And that thing right now is the wedge. I must have a pair. Immediately. If not sooner. They will go so well with my flared jeans and my maxi skirts that I've just purchased. (I think I might be hitting up a 70s vibe after all.) I will not rest until I have some.

Well, the lovely people at Kurt Geiger have been tempting me with the shoes above. Aren't they an utter delight?

But can I find them? Can I heck.

It is really quite frustrating when you can see the thing that will fulfil your every fantasy, but you can't get your grubby mitts on it.

So what to do? Wait patiently until the wedge of dreams is out there to be purchased?

Or buy stand in wedges? I can have them now wedges? I'm not playing games with you wedges?

God knows, I love a plain talking wedge.

And any one of these pairs would make me happy while I wait for the little tease wedges. But are two pairs in one season just an unneccessary decadence? But then isn't that what fashion is all about anyway? Lusting after pretty, pretty things that you don't strictly need for your well-being or survival?

Yup, I'm convinced by my unshakable logic. Two pairs it is.

I'll Knock Seven(ties) Bells Out of You

I can't confess to ever having been a massive fan of the Seventies look. I can appreciate it from afar but it isn't something I'm really interested in trying out.

Except, as the new season stock is dribbling in (seriously, let's finish up with the sales and get some new stuff out there, huh?) I have been getting quite excited about the Seventies feeling footwear.

Wedges? Platforms? With a flared trouser?

Hmmm, yes, I think so!

Call of the Wilde

I was innocently leafing through Vanity Fair when I saw this lovely picture of Olivia Wilde. And now I have a craving for wedges. No, no, not the carby snack, if anything this picture makes me never want to look a potato in the face ever again. I mean the shoes. Aren't they a delight?

Of course winter is not really the time for a wedge. At least not a sandaled version. And I was only the other day sneering at some poor unfortunate for hobbling about in a pair with woolen socks underneath. And not in a "hey, I'm kooky" sandals and socks ting, more like a "I have been foolish in my footwear and I know it" vibe.

And yet here I am, a-craving.

This Carvela pair have a decadent twenties/thirties Caberet-esque feel. But have you seen that heel. Flat, safe surfaces only for sure.

This picture of Olivia from Vanity Fair is also delightful. Loving the red wide-leg onesie.

Except, is that a wire waste paper basket in the pool with her? How quaint.

Money for Old Rope

Is there something biological happening in me that whenever the sun shines I start to think about a wedge espadrille? I think there must be, because I am not sure I have any control over it. It can't be rational, because I'm not sure I am particularly interested in them aesthetically, but I can't help but want a pair.

I don't think they are that elegant, and they are made out of rope so they are probably too scruffy to keep beyond one summer.

But I watched I am Love recently (it has the fabulous Miss Swinton in it in some amazing clothes) and a chic young slip of an Italian thing was wearing a pair, and it triggered it all off again.

Should I just bite the bullett and see if I like it? I like the red pair but are they are bit too serious, and the red white and blue pair, are they too frivolous?

If I ignore the urge will it just come up bigger and badder and more persuasive next year? If I succumb will in ensure that it is nothing but torrential rain until September? What's a girl to do?

Will(iams) the Wisp

SHRIEK! I love her shoes so much I fear I might pass clean away!

Plus she has my hair, if a little blondier, I can almost pretend that's me looking super hot and snuggling up to Ryan Gosling. SWOON!
