Purple Rinse
When I first saw Kelly Osbourne's purple hair I hated it. But the more I look the more it is growing on me. And I think the secret is the hair style. As she has grown into the colour she has been doing more chignons. So the result is less rawwwk and more shiny elegance. I like it.

Wet Behind the Ears
The big hair trend for the summer has to be wet look.
It seems to run the gamut from lightly misted to sopping. And I love all variations.
Whether it is up, down, half wet half dry, severe, relaxed, feminine, relaxed.
While I think it could work for daytime on longer hair for short hair I think it is an evening only look.
So I have bought the acoutrements and I'm going to try it for the hen do in NYC on Saturday.
I'm pretty excited.
For the hen do and hanging out with my friends.
Not just to experiment with a new hair do.
Promise!

Gentlemen Prefer...

Loving Rihanna's newly blonde hair. Making me slightly jealous too. I thought I would like the change to dark brown hair but now I'm wishing I had gone blonder instead. Ack!

Girl Next Door
What the Dickens is going on? I saw not one, but two grown women wearing two plaits today. I like a plait, I think they can look very pretty, but two French plaits? The last time I wore my hair like that I was a pre-pubescent. On adults it just looks creepy. Wouldn't you agree?

Dreadlock, Stock and Barrel
Dear Ross Noble, I think you're great. You make me laugh very hard. And I went to see you last year in the Isle of Man during the TT, the night I met my lovely ex Steve. So I have a special place in my heart for you.
I know that you could never be described as dapper (although you do really carry off the leather biker jacket) and that being interested in your appearance is not really your thing. I get that.
But there is one thing that my love for you just cannot endure. Your dreadlocks.

And, let's be honest here, it's not just you. There is a written rule, you see. And clearly no one has been kind enough to tell you, so let me be the one to break it to you gently. Unless you are Johnny Depp in character as a fictional pirate, as a white man the dreadlock is truly, truly, a no go area.
So please, employ some people to comb those bad boys out and we need never speak of this again. Otherwise I'll be sending people round with a sharp pair of scissors and some determination, and we'll have them away one way or another.
It's for your own good. I promise.

A Band Apart
My mind has been on hair bands recently. They make the growing out of a short hairstyle marginally more bearable.

And seeing how fabulous (and not like school children) these ladies look, I think it might be worth doing purely for the sake of copying their looks.

Chop and Change
Yeah, I know, I'm officially old. I've moved out of the city and I like watching Countryfile. I particularly like Ellie Harrison. She is very charming. And she has the best hair. It is super long and blonde and wavy.
It is giving me hair envy.
For the last couple of years I have been super happy with my short hair, but I always like to mix it up. So tell me, people should I grow my hair?
To help you, here are pictures of me with long hair and short.
Which is better?

Oh, Bee-hiiive!
Oh Cheryl, what has life come to?
Having to backcomb your hair to ridiculous proportions just to get some publicity.

I didn't think I would ever say this, but please make another record so that you don't have to go to such extreme measures for people to notice you.

The Dark Side
(Image via Zimbio)
I know that Liv Tyler's hairstyle is worn as a joke, but I saw a girl seriously wearing a high side pony tail yesterday. It was curly and bouncy and right up top.
Please God tell me this isn't happening again. I just don't think I could stomach it.

Don't Scrunch Up Your Nose (Except, Maybe Do)

For women of a certain age (ie. my age) the scrunchie is so evocative of a certain time. A time when we were truly young. And in fact it was only our youth, surely, that excuses our lack of taste in sporting such a horrible item.
That picture above could be me (minus the fags, they came later) when I was 11 or 12. Sad to say I too used to wear them around my wrist. Not as jewellery per se, but in between bundling my hair up in a messy bun.

So why, in 2011, when we should know better, is the scrunchie attempting to make a comeback? Inspired by the return of Take That? Since the brief resurgence of grunge fashion is the 90s ready for a revist on all fashion fronts?

Because, honestly, if this is what 2011 has in store for us I'm not sure I hold much hope for it.

Will people actually start wearing them? I would assume that no one who had worn one the first time round would revisit. There is nothing better than making a girl feel old than a trend coming round the second time.

Apparently we have Catherine Zeta Jones and Sienna Miller to thank for this. Surely Catherine you know better than this? And I think yours might be velvet, which is absolutely the worst case scenario.

Ladies, get a clue.

You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman

(Via Handbag)
When I see a girl with hair like this I think that I should go back to my natural colour, which is similar.
But actually I think I would get bored of it within about 10 minutes. So maybe I'll stick with the blonde.
I recently ran a poll with my friends and that was the overwhelming conclusion.
Who is Edie Campbell, by the way? Should I know?

High Top

Man, I wish I had long hair right now. All the cool girls are rocking a super up top top knot and they look sooooo cool.

I mean, obviously there is no point playing it by halves. My beloved Chloe here is being far too coy with it. It needs to be right up top, and high and bouffy as you like. Like the girl in the glasses. You know... BIG!

Do you think I could fake it somehow? No? You don't? Oh...

La Di Da

(Image via Handbag.com)
Gosh, it is pretty. I particularly like it over the leather jacket. You would look super in it. Are you sure you couldn't stretch to it?
Something else that is pretty is Posh's new do. Isn't it soft and feminine and doesn't it make her awfully approachable looking? Maybe everyone will learn to love her like we do.
