Shoulder the Blame

If you are talking sexy, you might well be talking Penelope Cruz, right? And her appearance on the red carpet for The Counselor in Nina Ricci absolutely confirms that this season's fashion erogenous zone is the neck and shoulders.

Good old Miuccia has also championed the look and, for a girl who doesn't tend to flash the flesh, this is a subtly sexy style of dressing that is just my speed.

Slouchy, undone cardigans beneath dresses here I come.

Prep School

(Image via Harvey Nichols)

I don't want to dwell on this, because my heart is a little broken, but I need to share a quick tale with you.

Do you remember that I treated myself to the Prada Baroque sunglasses? I loved them so much and really thought I might never need another pair of sunglasses again. But in my idiocy I put them down for a second in a shop and by the time I had realised my error some *@@&*! *@$$$!!^& had made off with them. There is no point in dwelling on it, lest to say that I hope something terrible befalls them to make up for them being a moral free thieving @&$!@*£.

So I am in the market for a pair of sunglasses, and sadly, the pair that I have lost my heart to are this pair called Preppy by Celine. I just love the roundness, and I think I would love them forever. Except I obviously can only buy dirt cheap ones from now on because I can't trust people to be honest myself not to lose them.

When You Wish Upon a Star

I have long been a fan of Ben Wishaw. After his cardigan wearing prowess in Skyfall and suit wearing prowess in The Hour, it doesn't surprise me at all that Miuccia has decided to use his charms to advertise Prada menswear. I heartily approve.

Things 'Bout to Get Ugly

Goodness knows I love me a bit of Miuccia, but she has lost me with this ugly shoe ting for Miu Miu and Prada this season. She clearly isn't planning on selling any of these, right?

Not cute, missy! You are on a warning.

Get Over It

When I was in my late teens I couldn't get enough of wearing skirts and dresses over trousers. I bloomin' loved it.

But it wasn't a look that stood the test of time. And If I did ever see anyone trying to carry it off it made me cringe as being so out of date.

But thanks to glorious Miuccia the look is back, BACK, BACK!

And way classier than it ever was.

I will most certainly be trying this out come autumn. Super excited!

What about you? Tempted by skirts over trousers? Or too soon to go back?

Shrink Wrapped

You must go here and watch the Prada film with Helena Bonham Carter and Ben Kingsley. It is a delight.

Middle England

I really love the bralet trend. I think it looks terribly chic with a high waisted skirt as shown as Dolce and Gabbana and Prada.

I just wish that I had a midriff worth showing off. If I did I would be flashing it in this Topshop number as soon as the sun was out.

Baroque and Roll

What is it about being or going on holiday that makes you quite take leave of your senses?

My flight to Cape Town was delayed and so I spent rather more time than expected sifting through all of those things that in normal circumstances you know you don't need, but when you have time on your hands and are in a holiday state of mind suddenly seem like just the very thing.

For me it was these Baroque sunglasses by Prada. It occured to me that there was really no good reason why I shouldn't have them. Not even their hefty price tag.

It seemed totally normal that I was considering paying the same amount as a couple of nights' accommodation.

Aren't they awesome? I am still pining slightly. But I distracted myself with Prada Candy perfume instead (rubbish name, utterly lovely pong). Clever old me!

Like Moths to a Flame

The accessory most likely  to put a smile on my face?  Gotta be Prada's flame shoes. Glorious!

What a Muppet!

You know how much I love an animal in an oufit? Well I think the natural progression has to be talking puppet animals in outfits.

Particularly when we are talking the most fabulous Miss Piggy in couture. I am beyond excited about this film. Miss P plays the editor of a fashion magazine (naturally) and so gets to wear some fabulous outfits.

Numerous designers have been making outfits for her.

And she got a fashion spread in InStyle.

How cute do her trotters look in these shoes?

Fabulous Jason Wu flapper dress...

Hanging out with Marc Jacobs...

Swathed in Prada...

If I didn't love her so much I would be seething with jealousy.

There's More Than One Way to Skin a, er, Snake

I love the Prada boots. Definitely the accessory of the season. Snakeskin, block colours and exciting heel shape. But not exactly a capsule piece.

And probably, you know, slightly above my budget.

But can you really replicate something so recognisable without coming out the loser? There's something quite pleasing about this Russell & Bromley pair. But even though I'm sure they aren't they still do come off as a cheap knock off. Which is a shame.
