You Do Know How to Whistle(s), Don't You?
(Via Whistles)
I hate it when lots of magazine's promote an item. Particularly when their wiley magic has its way with you and you want the item. Want it bad. Because it inevitably means that you can't find it.
Well I won!
I chased this skirt around town over the weekend (admittedly it was the midi length that was in most of the magazines, but I think it must have inspired interest in the shorter version too) and couldn't find it in my size. But at lunch I closed in on the sucker.
And what's more? It looks awesome.
Not like the Reiss skirt that I was lusting after for weeks:
(Via Reiss)
Which is so voluminous and long that it made me look about 4' tall and 4' wide.
So, result! Victory is mine!

If the Shoe Doesn't Fit
The other evening I went to an event here:
Hosted by:
I drank far too much:
And ate waaaay too many:
And fell in love with:
(Via Nicholas Kirkwood)
And considering how much:
I had drunk it was probably just as well that it was only a sample and they didn't have actual stock yet. Because otherwise I might be £500 more in debt but with a really heavenly pair of Nicholas Kirkwood's on my hoofs.

Going to See a Man(go) About a Dress
Pep(lum) Rally
I am aware that there were peplums on skirts at Jil Sander. Lovely brightly coloured skirts.
And what I thought were peplums on trousers. But honestly it didn't occur to me for a second that the peplum might be bought as its own unit, independent of any other item of clothing.
It's like a god-damned body scrunchie.

And you can pay £320 for the privilege.
You know what? I think I'll pass.

In the Pink
(Via Topshop)
Grrrr! Topshop.
Haven't shopped there in a while. Was reminded why the other night. Many lovely pink and navy striped skirts. 80% size 8. 10% size 6. 9% size 10. 1% size 12.
My size? Obviously none.
Plus it's sold out online.
WHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY????????!!!!!!!!!!!???????????

Do You Smell Bacon?
Gold with Envy
Dress for (Ahem) Success
I haven't been in French Connection for what feels like years. I mostly used to feel that it was overpriced. But now I find many things too cheap, so maybe I'm ready for them.
I bought three dresses in my lunch break today. One or two (or three) might be returned. The one above is a bit of a sack but with a wide waist belt would be quite saucy.
(Via French Connection)
And the shape of this is just perfect for me. V neck, nipped in waist, a-line skirt. I'm not entirely sure about the pattern. But it does wonders for disguising a few unsightly lumps and bumps.
I also got it in red. Which manages to be quite va-va-voom but also quite sweet. Plus it ticks the colour trend and will be lovely in summer with flat sandals. The only possible downside is that it will match my LK Bennett handbag, and I always think that when people wear red and have red accessories they look a bit insane.
Which should I keep and which should I take back?

Tea and Sympathy
(Via Topshop)
So, still on my sauce-search... Are tea dresses sexy?
(Via River Island)
I would usually accompany one with lashings of red lipstick. But does that put a boy off kissing? Because that obviously wouldn't do for date night.
(Via Elle)
And are they not, maybe, just a little bit dour without? But the shape is feminine and alluring, no? And a kind of sexiness that I could probably be comfortable with.
Fancy Pants
(Via Elle)
In my eternal quest to find an item for the season that invariably will not suit me, I give you the palazzo pant.
(Via Topshop)
Almost certainly not kind to those wide of hip and short of leg. And so of course I want it.
(Via River Island)
I think even with my mammoth new wedges I wouldn't be able to carry this off. So I should just put the thoughts away, shouldn't I?

Do You Think I'm Sexy?
I'm seeing my young man this weekend. We are going out for a romantic evening a deux. I want to look super hot for him.
But my idea of sexy and most boys' idea of sexy I suspect is quite different. I could of course just get one of two (three? four? Do legs and boobs count as one or two?) body parts out, or wear something tight. But I kind of like the thought of something a bit more subtle.
I think effortlessness is sexy. So something down played, not overt appeals to me. But would this look just be too corporate?
(Via Karen Millen)
And as I have an extremely feminine body shape would this slightly masculine look just be wrong on me? I have a horrible feeling it would.
Any thoughts or suggestions on what I could wear to entice my man? (Who admittedly thinks I look pretty lovely in everything I wear.)
