Ladies in Red

Lady in red is daaaancing with me, cheek to cheek. There's nobody here, it's just you and me...

Oooh, sorry, I didn't spot you there, where was I...?

Yes, ahem, Erdem.

I adored Michelle Williams in this Erdem dress. (Particularly with her insanely lovely hair.)

And then Alexa Chung wore it for Net a Porter, and I fell a little further.

It is a simply divine dress. Then To'Sho' was "inspired" by it. Badly. It looked cheap. It probably was cheap. I judged it. Not favourably.

So what of this French Connection number that has been similarly "inspired"? I'm going to a party on Friday and I'd love a new frock. Is this the one?

Would having it in jade be better?

Or blue?

Or should I stear clear entirely and find something else? What to do?

Dress for (Ahem) Success

I haven't been in French Connection for what feels like years. I mostly used to feel that it was overpriced. But now I find many things too cheap, so maybe I'm ready for them.

I bought three dresses in my lunch break today. One or two (or three) might be returned. The one above is a bit of a sack but with a wide waist belt would be quite saucy.

And the shape of this is just perfect for me. V neck, nipped in waist, a-line skirt. I'm not entirely sure about the pattern. But it does wonders for disguising a few unsightly lumps and bumps.

I also got it in red. Which manages to be quite va-va-voom but also quite sweet. Plus it ticks the colour trend and will be lovely in summer with flat sandals. The only possible downside is that it will match my LK Bennett handbag, and I always think that when people wear red and have red accessories they look a bit insane.

Which should I keep and which should I take back?

Green With Envy

(Via French Connection)

I don't usually celebrate New Year. I find it utterly overrated and usually have a terrible time. This year I have some new found optimism, and am very much looking forward to it.

So, of course, my mind has come to dresses and shoes (which might be entirely pointless as it is possibly going to be fancy dress).

And this little number is just heaven. It kind of reminds me of the dress Keira Knightley wears in Atonement (the colour in the flesh is much closer to that than it appears here).

And that can surely be no bad thing.

While I think it is actually quite understated in terms of detail, going maxi does still seem to be quite dressed up. And seeing as I am a bit of a midget maybe the combination of length and heels and booze might be unwise with the eventuality of either me or a fellow partygoer treading on it and attempting to tear it off my body being quite high.

I can always dream though, right?!
