Hair Bear Bunch

Urgh! My hair is growing out and starting to look a bit like a helmet and I redid my colour and it just looks awful. Like I have old lady hair. I used to be platinum and it was so harsh (visually and chemically) that when I went blonde this time I decided to keep it a bit more subtle. But right now it just looks sludgy. And I hate it.



I need a bit of a boost. And I know that means I should probably just go blondier, but I am thinking in a different direction. Yup, you guessed it, a red direction. Because if I went really blonde now I would look like I was trying to look like Agyness Deyn about two years too late.



Admittedly I have been put off this thought for three reasons.

It is currently very popular.

I have red toned skin so I need to make sure I get the right shade.

Once I have red in my hair I won't be able to go back to blonde as it will just go highlighter orange.

Any advice? To dye or not to dye?

Green Day

Green is not a colour that I spend too much time worrying over. It is pretty, but it isn't super common for clothes. Although I did once own a bottle green M&S men's cardy that I adored and wore to death until it was basically all holes. Which, of course, made it all the cooler because it was when grunge was in fashion and what teenage girl wouldn't salivate over baggy, scruffy clothes that you could smuggle yourself away in far from prying eyes?

But with the little dribble of a/w that is starting to come in to the shops I have been spotting green and I think I might quite like it. Particularly for knitwear.

Although with the Ralph Lauren dress above being as gorgeous as it is, maybe evening wear too. It's a beautiful colour, but it knows it, it can hang back, wait to be noticed, not like those exibitionists like pink that are shouting for your attention before you've even walked in the door. It is a bit more subtle and sophisticated and grown up, wouldn't you agree?

Delightful to Boot

I don't know if it's because it is raining.



Or because my autumn/winter obsession has started in earnest. (I have the Vogue and Elle catwalk supplements to slather over this evening. *Squeal!*)



But seriously, all I can think of is the boot.

Eek! I'm so excited! There isn't much that gets my blood racing like the catwalk supplements for autumn/winter. In my lunch break I spotted that Elle's is out. I might be trying to stave off buying magazines but this one must be bought. Must.

A Blessing in Disguise

The Lucy in Disguise shop is near where I work. You know, the shop that Lily Allen and her sister set up. I've never been in, but a friend of mine mentioned it recently and I thought I would have a look.

And the thing is, I'm not sure I get it. Is it vintage? Or is it new run ups of vintage designs?

Having a quick squizz on their website I think it might be both. There seem to be a couple of very expensive items which I can only assume are the real deal, and then others which are available in a variety of sizes which must be the copies.

I have nothing against the copies, if that is what they are. I think this dress is beautiful.

The whole vintage-look but new idea seems to be taking off. A very talented ex-colleague of mine is rocking it with her company Silk and Sawdust, which has some very lovely pieces.

But I do wish Lucy in Disguise would make it a bit clearer, what they are doing, because I do feel ever so slightly confused. Am I alone?

What Katie, Err, Wore

Wow, the world is going nuts for Kate, aren't they? There is even a website dedicated purely to her wardrobe.

I think she is worth all the fuss though. She hasn't put even a little toe wrong so far. Bravo, I say!

Particularly with the Maple leaf hat. What could have been a bit kitschy, naff and try hard is actually terribly elegant. She is truly marvellous.

Living the Dream

I had a dream last night that Anna Wintour took me shopping. It was awesome. I wish it was real.

Everyone around me was saying that whatever happened I had to make sure I bought whatever Anna told me to buy. As if it was of the utmost importance. You know, like it was more than just about a cute outfit, but that somehow it would be the key to a whole new life and pleasure that I could not imagine.

So I'm somewhat vexed that it was only a dream, because all the things she told me to buy don't actually exist. Gah! Because, Anna, I'd totally buy them if I could, especially the loveliest ring that you showed me, please still let me into your club of fabulousness.

Man I was disappointed when I woke up. It was like when you were a little kid and you get rudely awakened from a great dream and you are convinced that if you can just fall asleep again then you'll get right back in it. Didn't happen then. Doesn't happen now. Hurumph!
