Shelter from the Storm

I've got one of these...

And the day is like this...

With a bit of this thrown in for good measure...

I would really quite like to be in bed...

But there are things to be done so up and at 'em I must go.

The thing to get me through? Dreaming about knitwear. Here are some fantasy items. Hmmm, snuggly! I almost feel better already!

Shoulder the Blame

If you are talking sexy, you might well be talking Penelope Cruz, right? And her appearance on the red carpet for The Counselor in Nina Ricci absolutely confirms that this season's fashion erogenous zone is the neck and shoulders.

Good old Miuccia has also championed the look and, for a girl who doesn't tend to flash the flesh, this is a subtly sexy style of dressing that is just my speed.

Slouchy, undone cardigans beneath dresses here I come.

Dyed in the Wool

It is Campaign for Wool's Wool Week. Harvey Nichols, Knitsbridge have decorated themselves with a huge ball of wool and knitting needles. Which is awesome. As a new knitting obsessive this excites me a lot.

And also, I think it is a really great excuse to buy this cardigan and pair of woolen leggings from Toast which I have been lusting after for some time.

I would be super cosy and supporting a cause. Works for me!

What a Card(igan)

I can't remember exactly how it came up, but yesterday in my book group (A Summer of Drowning by John Burnside which I would heartily recommend) the subject of men in cardigans came up.

Which then led me to the delightful discovery of the charmingly descriptively named Tumbr Men in Cardigans .

Now personally I am into a man in a cardy. I think it speaks well for a man. I mean narrow minded neanderthals probably wouldn't be drawn to such a piece of knitwear, would they?

What about you? Like a man in a cardigan? Or does it turn you off?

Cover all Bases

I am wearing my lovely Temperley dress to my even lovelier friend Amelia's wedding in South Africa in a few weeks.

And I have almost everything that I need to go with it.

The dress is cream with an orangey red decoration on it.

I'm going to be wearing my nude suede Clarks heels and a pair of gold and coral earrings, but what of the cover up in case it is cold and the bag?

I think I have three options (and probably more if I carry on looking, but I think I will solve dilemma one to start with).

One:

Sweet little coral coloured Hobbs cardigan and coral patent clutch.

I fear this may be too matchy matchy.

Two:

Oatmeal coloured cardigan and rust coloured scarf from Jigsaw with a cream woven clutch or gold clutch that I already own.

I think this may be my favourite option if the orange of the scarf and the orange red of the dress work together.

Or the same cardigan in a rose red, with a rose coloured scarf and heavenly rose red woven clutch, all again from Jigsaw.

Which would clash a bit but could potentially be a good clash... Maybe...?

But is probably just an excuse to buy this clutch which I LOVE.

So, fabulous fans, what do you think? One, Two or Three? Or keep looking. Please let me know in the comments. I'd be very grateful.

Pull the Wool Over Your Eyes

(Via Chictopia)

I know you are probably beyond bored of hearing me prattle on about what I am going to wear for New Year. I'm sorry, but please have a little more patience with me...

I think I might wear a pale grey/silver dress. And I bought a pair of dark purple tights from Tabio because I thought black would be too harsh.

Now, seeing as it is going to be colder than a witches nether regions I need a cardy. Burgundy? Dark purple? And where can I find such a thing? I was veering toward Uniqlo but it seems they have nothing in the right colour.

Please help, I don't want to freeze!

What a Card(igan)!

Gosh. All I want is a cardigan. A plain, black, short, crew neck cardigan. With buttons. Surely a basic human right, no? But can I find one? No, I cannot.

I can find a lace inserted cardigan. A waterfall cardigan. A sequinned shrug. A military cardigan. A boyfriend cardigan. A drummer boy cardigan. A pom pom cardigan. A varsity cardigan. A Cosby cardigan (these seem to be a bit of a trend, lots about if the mood takes you...). A fallaway cardigan. A zip front cardigan. A waistcoat cardigan (?!).

Aaarrrgghhh! The list goes on and on and on.

Can no one help me?
