Baroque and Roll

What is it about being or going on holiday that makes you quite take leave of your senses?

My flight to Cape Town was delayed and so I spent rather more time than expected sifting through all of those things that in normal circumstances you know you don't need, but when you have time on your hands and are in a holiday state of mind suddenly seem like just the very thing.

For me it was these Baroque sunglasses by Prada. It occured to me that there was really no good reason why I shouldn't have them. Not even their hefty price tag.

It seemed totally normal that I was considering paying the same amount as a couple of nights' accommodation.

Aren't they awesome? I am still pining slightly. But I distracted myself with Prada Candy perfume instead (rubbish name, utterly lovely pong). Clever old me!

Due South

Eeek! I am off to South Africa this weekend for the lovely Amelia and Harry's wedding. I have been happily shopping away in preparation and now I need just one thing.

A bag. I want it to be cheap and cheerful that I can sling over my shoulder and not worry about too much. I also want it to have a zip so I don't have to worry about the contents. So just a simple tote won't quite do.

I have found this selection that I would be happy with, but the Bath branches don't stock any of them. Ack. What's a girl to do?

Cold Shoulder

(Via Edinburgh Woollen Mill)

I'm going to the Lake District tomorrow and I think I have made a grievous error. While I'll be all set in my walking togs, I even have waterproof trousers that have poppers down the side for when it's raining but you still want to practise your Chippendales dance moves, I don't think I have enough layers for the rest of the time. I just checked the forecast and it is going to be in single figures. Ack!

Desperately scrabbling around on the internet trying to find sweaters I found myself at a loss. But fortunately, I'll be in the lakes, and it seems that if they do anything there that isn't mountains or lakes or BMX Potter, as my brother used to call her, then it is hardy knitwear.

I googled clothes shops in Ambleside and up popped the Edinburgh Woollen Mill and Lakeland Sweaters. Maybe it will be ok after all. Phew!

We're All Going on a Summer Holiday

I have got it in my head that what I need right now is two weeks trekking in Bhutan. Sounds about right, don't you think?

So I've been researching that rather than doing any fashion research. What a loser. I'll be back soon, I promise.

But honestly, you wouldn't know what is going through my head right now in terms of clothes coz it's all hiking boots and technical fabrics. You'd be appalled.

Goldie Looking Dame

Would you Adam and Eve it? I love Overboard too! It was on tv recently, one Sunday afternoon, and instead of doing sensible things like laundry and balancing my cheque book I sat and watched the whole thing. Minus the first part where she is rich and mean, so I had clean forgotten the AWESOME epaulettes outfit.
I applaud your vision of being on holiday. Why not go all out? As long as you wear those sunglasses. Tee, hee!!
Shall I admit something potentially embarrasing? I remember watching Bird on a Wire when it first came out on video (so I was probably about 11) and there is an outfit that Goldie wears that I remember thinking was just about the most chic thing I had ever seen.

I am not quite sure how I feel about it now...
