The Emperor's New Shoes

I know it wasn't that long ago since I was getting excited about the nude shoe. Well, I would like to publicly retract that statement.

Because I am so utterly booooorrreeedddd of them. I don't think a single sleb has graced the red carpet with any other hue of shoe in months. I can't take it any more.

Sweet pencil, though, Vicks.

Nude (S)hue

Hello. I am going to attend to both nude shoes at once. Now I am all for them in theory but I know exactly what you mean about matching an accessory to your ACTUAL skin. You do run the risk of 'fiberglass leg'. (A look that can make the wearer look a bit floaty and a bit like the stiff version of Kim Cattral in Mannequin.) Let's take a look at the lovely Megan as an example:

It's not necessarily a bad thing, and a nude has an amazing ability to make a leg look longer than the wearer might ever had dared dream was possible, but in general you know, I think choosing a nude that is a few shades lighter or darker than you skin tone is the secret.

I also worry that an overly strappy nude can look a little bit like a grubby bandage, but it all depends on what they're teamed with and the level of grooming involved. I like the idea of those heels with the purple frock. Blisters are not cool and I like the addition of a bit of edge to that outfit so I am all for those tiny tiny Aldo heels. Do it!

Well-heeled

I am a person of infinite calm. I am taking deep breaths in and purifying breaths out. I am not in the least annoyed that Aldo just will not allow me to download a reasonable sized image and will only offer these poxy ones even though I want to praise them.
I will not even bat an eyelid that I now feel the need to link directly to their site in order to give you a proper idea of what the shoes look like and so give them further promotion when they give me nothing, rien, nada, zip, etc. It really doesn't matter, I'm absolutely fine!
Is it tedious that I am posting another nude shoe? Directly after the other? The only difference being a little bitty heel? Might I have taken ill, do you think?
Well, anyway, the fact remains... I really enjoyed my purple dress on Saturday. I felt sophisticated and elegant and yet pretty and feminine in the extreme. I loved it! I did not, however love the shoes. I am now blistered. And while a snail's pace for one's own celebrations is to be tolerated I don't really think I can dictate the pace at someone else's wedding. For I am going to one in just over a month. There will be dancing. I need something that is not going to fly off unannounced while I am spinning around the dancefloor and take out a treasured aunt.
What say you to these? With the purple dress.

Skinny Dipping

OK, so today might not be a prime example of what I am about to say, but it does rather seem that summer might be here. (I am optimistic, I'm sure it will be back, ideally tomorrow for birthday celebrations.) And summer merits a new shoe. Last year I wore my sandals most days but there were quite a lot of raised eyebrows at work, supposedly on the grounds of health and safety. A stapler could fall on your foot, etc. Would you credit it?

So I am thinking about a nude flat pump this year. This pic is for illustrative purposes only, I haven't actually started the search. But with my floral dresses and bright colours I feel that nude is the only way to go. Otherwise I will start to look a bit insane/be a bit poor if I try to match them. Wouldn't you agree?

I do have a slight concern that I might end up looking like a manequin by matching my shoes to body parts...

Ooh! These could be contenders:

Colour you badd!

Holy mackerel! Now we know where the Spice Girls got their sartorial inspiration. I never knew that Rainbow Brite wore Buffalo boots. That's awesome. When I was about 17 I was completely obsessed with owning a pair. Boy am I glad that I didn't succumb because I would definitely be whipping out the long lost twin to explain away those pictures.

You know me and my pedantic nature so well, don't you? Because even as I was reading about your white top I was thinking: actually, I think you'll find that white is not a colour, but in fact, an absence of colour. Ahem! Ahem! Although I'm not sure if that is scientific fact. I read this but it didn't shed any light on it (geddit?!)

But yeah! Go you! Rock it out! I am super excited about the thought of you not looking like a sexy Italian widow. You know, definitely hot but a little dour. What of the flesh tones? Are you experimenting with those too? That would please me no end.

It really IS OK Lily

Two things.

1) I have like the last two singles from Lily Allen which is unusual. I really like the latest one.

Also

2) I covet this jumpsuit so much it hurts. It is the perfect shade of nude nothing but something. And the drapery is so completely flattering it's just marvellous. She really is looking fabulously cute at the moment. Bravo!
