Diamond in the Rough

Alexander McQueen

I'm quite sure the Diamond Jubilee isn't getting everyone hot under the collar. But me? I ruddy love Her Maj and I think that we could all do with a bit of a boost and a feeling that there might be something good about our country, so I'm well into it.

I would, however, draw the line at wearing the Union Jack about my person, unless I get very, very drunk. But some of these pieces are actually surprisingly beautiful.

What about you? Feeling patriotic?

Dear Audrey Tatou

Why are you so unspeakably chic? Why is it impossible for me to be as chic as you? How are you carrying off what would, on many, be a very frumpy heel height?

These are questions I feel I need the answers to.

Hope you are well, love to the family... etc.

Pop Your Cork

Giuseppe Zanotti

I saw a lady in the airport the other day in a pair of cork heeled sandals and I loved them. There are some serious cork treats to be had. And with a chunky heel rather than a wedge I think they look a lot more modern and less 70s.

Aah, just what I need in these times of universal belt tightening - a new jewellery obsession. Thanks Lulu Frost.

In the Swim

Oh my days! Isn't this swimsuit by Zimmerman gorgeous? The antithesis of the mystery free zones of the cut out swimsuit or bikini. Elegant, classy and pretty. I want it. Bad.

Nice Cannes

(Image via Celebitchy)

I've been so busy that I haven't had a chance to really analyse Cannes outfits. But I just couldn't pass this one up. No, not Kristen Stewart's petri dish medical waste spillage trousers, but Kirsten Dunst in Dolce and Gabanna. Swoon! I love this dress, and the Charlotte Olympia shoes. So very pretty.

You must go here and watch the Prada film with Helena Bonham Carter and Ben Kingsley. It is a delight.

Blazer Trail

What could be lovelier than a brightly coloured blazer for summer. I would be happy with any of these.

Teal or No Teal

Wow! It is getting warm. And all I want to do is wear super lightweight floaty tops. My favourite is this little teal treat from Jigsaw. I feel cool just looking at it.

Black as Pitch

(Images via All Saints)

Now that I'm pretending to be a tough girl I feel the need for a tough girl pair of sandals for summer. I have never owned black sandals other than flip flops as I feel they are too brutal and harsh for summer. But with my pared down look that I am attempting to pull together I really want a pair and quite fancy this pair from All Saints.

What is even weirder though, is that I am also thinking about a black handbag from them too. And that just seems to be going against everything I believe in in terms of seasonal fashion.

But if I base my summer wardrobe around black and white with the occasional pop of colour, particularly if it is neon, then I think it just might work. Would you agree or am I off the mark?

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

I don't get to wear heels anymore. I used to wear them all the time. Then I wore them every time I went out. Then it was just at work. And now I can't wear them there because there are so many stairs to deal with. So I wear them at weddings. Which just isn't enough heel action. I am seriously pining after them.

And if I were to buy a pair that would make sure that I started a career in wedding crashing it would be these by Camilla Skovgaard. If you're getting married let me know, I make a really fun wedding guest, I promise.

Horses for Courses

After all these scrubbers have been seen at Ascot falling out of their dresses and Jimmy Choos and recklessly flaunting fascinators the organisers of Ascot have come up with stricter rules as to what is acceptable. Most of them are directed at women, which I find a bit galling. But I will forgive them for this beautiful photo shoot that they put together to illustrate the rules.

Seriously classy.

Fantasy Playground

As you know I am not a huge fan of Kaiser Karl, but I can't deny that he knows how to put on a show.

Chanel's cruise collection was shown at Versailles and is just delightful.

Enjoy this frothy confection.
