Under Cover

Comptoir des Cotonniers

I am a cardigan lover. I would say that I probably wear one most days. In fact I am sitting here typing in one right now.

I think they are so easy to wear. I like to wear a lot of dresses and a cardigan provides warmth without entirely masking what's underneath.

But I have started to feel that they aren't really smart enough. You know, for work. I bought a jacket last year, a stunning off white Comptoir delight. For the first few months I barely wore it, feeling as though it was too smart, but I think I have grown into it, and wanting to look smart and structured. Slinging on a jacket is such an easy way to pull together your look. So now I am obsessed with filling my wardrobe with great jackets.

For a first go I will take all of these. And, you know, a lottery win...

Blazer Trail

 Altuzarra

What could be lovelier than a brightly coloured blazer for summer. I would be happy with any of these.

What the Blazers?!

(Image via Vanity Fair)

Sandra Bullock is really rocking the blazer over a party dress look. I wonder if I could too. Her dress is from All Saints, and I have one from there (although far less ornate) which might look quite cute with a blazer for New Year's.

I'm not really feeling body confident at the moment post Christmas gorging to show too much flesh. So the blazer might be the perfect solution, plus it tones down a party dress and makes it look like you're not trying too hard. Which for NYE has to be a good thing. I always think there is just something a little desparate about going all out.

So if this is what I'm going to try then I need to pin down a great blazer.

Blaze a Trail

(Via Reiss)

Certain urges I have come and go. I feel lusty thoughts. I resist them. Lusty thoughts go away. Even if I see the item in the sale, the desire is dead and will not be stirred.

But then others lie merely dormant waiting for an excuse to rise up and pounce. You know, kinda like a zombie. Hmmm, except they're kind of dead, aren't they? Excuse me, I'm trying to be too clever for my own good.

But anyhoo... I was looking for a jacket a while back and couldn't find anything that fit the bill. And I once fevered for a boyfriend jacket but resisted as they didn't love my curves. Then this morning I saw a girl on my way into work wearing broderie anglaise and a fitted palest pink blazer and HA! the lusty was on me once again.

Is it foolish to think about buying a pale jacket in old pollutin' London town, with my ability to liberally decorate myself with stains? Plus it is a look that works better with a trouser, which in turn don't play nice with me... What a quandary. I think I'll just have to go and try on the Reiss number, at which point it will inevitably look hideous on me and the whole discussion will be null and void.

Sorry for wasting your time.
