On the Hoof

(Via Go Fug Yourself)

Yikes! After the sad demise of Caria/Sharey (are we still combing sleb couple names like this or is it over? Personally I never thought they was any point going on after perfection was reached with TomKat, but I digress...), I mean Carey Mulligan and Shia laBeouf, is Carey angling for a date, instead, with Mr. Tumnus?

Hate to break it to you, Carey, but I was always under the impression that our favourite faun batted for the other team. Or was that just me?

On the House

I don't know how much of a geek this makes me, but Senate House was one of my favourite things about my uni days. I just couldn't believe my luck that I spent time (probably not enough time, admittedly) in such an incredible building. Just look at it, isn't it enough to make you swoon?

(Via Senate House Library)

So I have been slightly jealous to see people with this bag slung casually over their shoulders. But now I have discovered that they are practically giving them away. Only two of my British pounds. Bargain! I must have one immediately.

Put the Boot in

I have returned the black ankle boots that I bought. I am a girl who wears a lot of dresses. I only own about three pairs of trousers. So a boot has to go with a dress. And I'm not convinced that those did.

Plus, what could possibly be more fun than buying something, returning it and buying something else, without becoming noticeably poorer? Right?!

So, now I am flirting with the idea of an ankle wedge boot.

What are your thoughts, kind readers, on this band of reprobates?

Out of all of them they would probably work the best with dresses, and the height is good, but I'm not so sure about the thick crepe sole.

Hmm, no, I don't think so.

Is it just me or is there something a bit rent boy about these? Definitely not an option.

Are these like leather boxing boots? If so, is that strictly a bad thing? I like that they would fit snuggly around the leg, and they look super comfy.

The colour of these isn't what I was thinking, but I am charmed by them nontheless, but probably too casual. They would also work with trews though, which is always a bonus.

Going out on a tangent, I think these are very cool, but maybe not quite what I am looking for. Might need a try.

Nine West, in their infinite wisdom, have come up with an ugly boot and then called it Remedial. I assume it isn't actually remedial, it hasn't been accredited by a health organisation, it isn't going to correct, say, a club foot, so why on earth would you want to suggest that it was? So I can happily strike this one off the list.

(Via Kurt Geiger)

I'm drawn to these but I'm not sure why. Do they look too much like Kickers? Too butch for dresses? I rather fear so.

(Via Dune)

I quite like the simplicity of these, but less sure about the suede.

(Via Office)

But if I was going for that kind of thing I think Clarks is doing it rather better. But the tan ones have appeared in Grazia, so I will probably fall foul of what I have dubbed the Grazia Curse, which ensures that anything I want that appears between its glossy pages gets snapped up before I get a look in. Gah!

As Snug as a Bug in a Rug

(Via River Island)

There has been a trend of late to make jewellery of bugs. Well, in their likeness, anyway. And I haven't really found many of them particularly appealing. But I love this. It is just so pretty (and happens to be partly bug). A little bug is ok, don't you think?

Pure as the Driven Snow

I am still quietly lusting after that D&G snow bunny look. And NW3 have some items that fit the bill. I love this sweater. Cosy, but not oversized like a lot of the knitwear around at the moment.

And the idea of having gloves on a string I find utterly adorable.

I even (or, shhh! especially) like these woolen leggings.

I would never have cold legs again.

(Via Hobbs)

Hmm, I wonder how they would look with the hiking boots.

Jack and Gilet

(Via River Island)

I am far, far too suggestible. I only have to watch something or think of something and I want it.

So on having mentioned a leather jacket I want one really, really badly.

But I have very specific ideas about the perfect leather jacket.

It needs to be very fitted. Not too bikery or boxy. No buckles.

And of course the nicest ones are hideously expensive.

But they aren't that warm, are they? So I think the only solution would be to wear it with a fur gilet. A look that I have slowly been coming round to over the last couple of years.

(Via Asos)

I'd probably prefer a grey or black one, but you get the idea.

Long Time No Se(quin)

(Via River Island)

I think sequins are terribly overrated. Particularly as we are entering the festive season. Just so bluergh. Like party dressing by numbers. Don't have a clue? Lob on a sequin or ten thousand.

I think it was Jess Cartner-Morley who recently wrote that sequins and fur should be dressed down, because they are so ubiquitous at formal events. And actually I think that is just right.

So when I saw this skirt I saw a white t-shirt maybe a bashed up fitted leather jacket and chunky boots. How cute would that be? I now need to go and buy all those things. Oops!

Tickety-Bou(cle)

(Via Jigsaw)

I loathe how this jacket is styled here, but I saw it in one of their shop windows with a chunky black knit underneath, a skinny black belt, a silver chain belt and wide leg black woolen trousers and it looked awesome.

The Cat's Pajamas

I saw three young ladies walking around in full sets of pajamas, uggs and parkas.

I couldn't hear a fire alarm.

What other possible excuse can there be for this behaviour?

Blood, Sweat(er) and Tears

I love a sweater dress. Particularly now that it is getting so cold. Hmmm, doesn't it look cosy?

Obviously it would have to be belted, so it doesn't look too bulky.

This one is so adorable. With chunky boots and thick woolen tights.

Ooo! And I love the grey too. I feel I would have to be prepared to dole out cosy hugs in this. Well, wouldn't you?

OK, so this one is less sexy, but it is still pretty cool.

And they all look like dresses. Not sweaters. The clue is in the question, you know? Sweater dresses.

(Via River Island)

As in, they should actually be dresses, not just a long sweater like this one. But it hasn't stopped River Island suggesting you accessorize it with a pair of ankle boots and a bowler hat. Really? Are you quite sure?

Cold Shoulder

(Via Oasis)

I find it quite funny (as in hmmmm rather than ha ha) that pieces in leather can often appear quite frumpy.

Particularly on those with generous bodies.

A stiff leather over an abundant bosom produces a matronly shelf. Which surely goes entirely against the suggestion of leather being sexy and a bit deviant.

But I think this dress is lovely, so it might be worth trying it on to ascertain if I look lovely and slightly sexy or like a stern hausfraus.

Dress Code

(Via Hobbs)

I popped into Hobbs the other day and spotted this delightful number. It looked lovely on the rack. But actually via the image on their website I'm not sure if I like it.

Possibly too fussy. Too much detail.

I might need to try it.

Agent Orange

(Via Handbag)

I am still loving the minimalist look, but when a girl is feeling low what she needs is a bit of colour.

And these orangey shades are just delightful. I'm slightly concerned that I might look a bit consumptive in them though...

Bikini Kill

Holy mackerel! How did I not know that this existed in the world? It is beyond awesome! Tacksville, Ohio! Glorious!

(Via River Island)

Mull(igan) it Over

(Via Handbag)

How adorable does Carey Mulligan look? I love her skirt. Love it, I tells you.
