A Flea in My Ear

If I have been consistently and blatantly rude about a brand, for argument's sake let's say, um, Uggs, it wouldn't be acceptable to say that I thought something they had produced was quite cute, would it? And warm and snuggly and lovely...?

No, no, thought as much.

Just a hypothetical question, you understand...

Let Me Hear Your Body Talk

I have a confession to make. I am borderline obsessed with the Olivia Newton-John song, Let's Get Physical. I blame Sue Sylvester. Did you see that episode of Glee? Well, it was possibly the best thing I have ever seen on tv. Honest to God.

You know there are songs that just run through your head when someone says something? (I had no end of trouble with Do You Know the Way to San Jose? when I lived in Santa Cruz.) Well now I have it with Let's Get Physical. It is so tragique. I particularly like to swap in the word quizzical, if there are any question and answer-based shenanigans on the horizon. I know! Ha! Ha! Hilarious! But honestly, it's like a disease, I just can't help myself.

So when I thought about my next post the lyrics of the aforementioned song ran for the umpteenth time through my head.

So anyway, after an enormous digression, to the point in hand...

I bought this from Princesse Tam Tam.

I think it is awfully pretty.

I'm not sure exactly what it is. By all accounts I have the following options:

1. Body

Too 90s. Too many thoughts of mum jeans and scrabbling around at a ridiculous angle in public toilets wrestling with the snaps. Not sexy.

2. Camiknicker
They combined a camisole and a knicker, so why not combine the words too? Clever, eh? But somehow sounds a bit Victorian. Again, not sexy.

3. Teddy
Makes me think of romance novels and racy affaires carried out not that illicitly by Jackie Collins characters. Hmmm, a bit cheesy maybe, but at least we've switched into the sex factor.

OK, so problem one solved, now on to problem two.

Is this item just for the bedroom, do you think? Or could it be worn under clothes. Unseen? Sure. It would add a little frisson while out and about. But what about seen? Under a jacket for example? Would it be too much? And would I actually start to look like a Jackie Collins character? Would I need to change my name to Lucky and become and uber-bitch? (What's that you say? Not too much of a stretch...? Well, that's not very nice.)

Any thoughts on how this item should be worn? And in what context?

Erin Wass(going)on?

(Via Holy Moly)

I have questions.

Oh so many questions.

But, alas, I have no answers.

Zowie Mawi

Lord knows I love loud, obnoxious jewellery. I like it to be BIG and to make a statement. Generally speaking it needs to have little class, as long as it doesn't look super cheap.

(Via Handbag)

These Mawi pieces are most certainly not super cheap. But they are wow! Maybe I'm ready to take my jewellery purchases up a notch. But actually, when it comes to jewellery I think I would prefer to keep it cheap and buy more of it.

Give it Some Welly

(Via Office)

Gosh, I seem to be angry at the moment. It is purely hormonal, I assure you, I actually find myself in almost permanently good spirits.

But with this bad weather I have spotted a lot of people in wellingtons. And while they might keep your feet dry, they wouldn't be my choice vis-a-vis the slip-threat.

And then I saw the pair above and thought how lovely the colour was.

More than anything, though, when I think of Hunters I recall a terrible waitressing job where we were forced to wear Veuve Cliquot Hunters as the event was sponsored by them and they were so tight on my legs they nearly cut off my circulation. And the general consensus by my delightful superiors was that it was far more important for me to kiss corporate arse than retain my lower limbs.

So I have developed a hatred on the damn things. In any colour.

(Via Asos)

But an ankle wedge Hunter? Well, that could get me thinking a little more kindly of them. Just maybe.

Clap Trap

Men! Yes, for once I am talking to you! Hey! No, I didn't think I was that bothered about your fashion either! Ha! Whodathunk?!

But seriously, just in case you had mistaken this site for one that rates the attractiveness of the fairer sex and had only skimmed over the post below while desperately trying to find the "hotties" let me reiterate my point that was a mere aside below:

You do not look cute in a trapper hat. Honestly. I'm not trying to, ahem, trap you> Look at the dude up there. He's a model and he looks like a corpse with a dead wolf on his head. Look in his eyes, he is dying inside. It is not a good look. Even if it is warm and prevents your head from freezing off. Seriously, I don't care about your basic rights to warmth and comfort I just care about my eyes and the fact that you are fundamentally offending my aesthetic ideals.

These are my reasons:

It is like wearing furry blinkers and I assume that as some trendy young hipster type who probably lives in Dalston or Hackney you will no doubt be mown down by one of your brethren on their fixie as you can't see their stealthy approach as you cross the road.

You do you not live in the arctic tundra. I know it might feel like it, but a couple of days of snow does not make you a hardened trapper who must wear fur to survive.

You look like a tit.

But hey, nice seeing you here! I promise I'm not always so mean. I'm sure all your other clothes are lovely and that you've got a great personality... Don't hold it against me, coz you know I'm right really, don't you? Yes, yes, that's ok, you let it all out, yes, peer pressure is a terrible thing, isn't it? It wasn't your fault...

Winter White

(Via River Island)

Hmmm, white in winter? I think it is tricky to pull off. But I have two reasons for wanting to, err, pull it off.

One: I am quite enamoured of this dress. And with the black touches I could happily team it with opaques and boots and a cardy.

Two: I want to dive head first into my fantasy of me as Lara (I know, I know, I will never be able to compete with Julie Christie, but there's nothing wrong with aiming high, is there?) from Dr. Zhivago. And my white fake fur Russian stle hat (like the one above, not one of the ones with ears that many trendy boys seem to be sporting) would look lovely with a bit of white nestling under my coat.

Are you convinced?

Ship Shape and London Fashion

(Via Not on the High Streeet)

I am beyond in love with this London Fashionista's map from Not on the High Street. I want one. Badly. If anyone was wondering what to get me for the festive season...!

In Good Nick(i)

They are calling Nicki Minaj hip hop's Gaga.

I'm definitely intrigued.

But I'm not sure I'm won over just yet.

What do you guys think?

She's like a character from a Manga comic.

She kind of reminds me of when Eve went a bit technicolour, and I liked that. But a bit more extreme, obviously.

I think I might be warming to her.

Sacred Gruau

I love fashion illustration. And the work of Rene Gruau has to be some of the most delightful, wouldn't you agree?

I am squealing with excitement inside as I'm going to his exhibition at Somerset House tomorrow.

I can't wait!

Paint the Town Red

(Via Handbag)

By wearing red close to Christmas do I run the risk of looking like Santa's little helper? I want to wear red so badly right now. Isn't this dress heaven. It makes me feel in the party spirit just looking at it.

And for day...

(Via Oasis)

Yes, yes, I think I must. I must have some red in my life. It would lift my mood to giddy heights I suspect. And I'm so enjoying being happy right now I think I want to push the boat right on out.

I do have a reddy complexion which might complicate things, but to hell with it. It's December and I will be festive!

How Now Brown Cow

(Via River Island)

I find it terribly easy to resist the questionable charms of brown clothes. Hmmm, what does brown make me think of? Earth. Not terribly glamourous. I know that some people find it an awfully practical hue, but not me, I just find it boring and unflattering.

But I like this dress. I suppose it has a variety of shades that makes it more interesting. And the pattern gives it a vintage air. But it is brown. Brown, brown, brown.

I'm not sure I'm entirely convinced...

We'll Always Have Paris

(Via Glamour)

Surprise of the year? Well, for me it has to be that Paris Hilton actually seems quite cool. I watched Fearne Meets Paris Hilton, and I think she came across really well. She seemed like a nice girl.

Doesn't make me like her sense of style any more though.

Miss Scarlet in the Library with the Lead Piping

(Via Style.com)

Ever since seeing Isabel Marant's red leather trousers the idea of coloured cropped trousers has been tickling my fancy. Of course my thighs and red leather were never going to make a great couple. So I put the thought out of my head.

Until I saw these by Zara. The colour is heaven and the fabric and shape I imagine are infinitely more forgiving.

I used to own a pair of fuschia velvet trousers from Karen Millen which I adored. I think I am ready to go lairy on the bottom half again. Elle suggested teaming with a neutral colour top.

(Via Elle)

And I love the colour, but they also suggested nude shoes. Hmmmm, not so much. So I think I might prefer to team it with a black sweater and black flat pumps instead. Do you think it will work?

Duvet Know it's Christmas Time at all?

(Via Uniqlo)

Jeez Louise! It is coooooooooold out. So cold that I am actually starting to think that a duvet jacket is a good idea. Which generally only happens when I am deep in the bosom of a high altitude mountain range.

But the smart "city" ones make me think of Italian tourists in London. And while they may be very stylish I often think they look as though they took a wrong turn on leaving the apres-ski. Plus, if you already have a little natural, ahem, padding they probably aren't that friendly. Know what I'm saying?
