Fit as a Butcher's Dog

You know these new fangled shoes that are meant to work out your body as your walk? Do they actually do anything? And are they actually good for your body?

I walk into work every day, a fast 45 minutes to work and a fast 45 minutes home. Currently I am wearing an all terrain shoe. It isn't pretty. It doesn't necessarily go with my look. (It isn't a white trainer, let's not go nuts, but I'm pretty sure it is at the bottom end of the desirable footwear scale.) But it sure is comfortable and I can walk fast in them without hurting myself.

But when winter is upon us? And I need to keep my pinkies warm, what then? I need arch support and a softish sole. So my mind has wondered to the FitFlop boots.

They should be comfortable, shouldn't they? And warm. But are they cute?

Probably not these ones, though.

They look too much like Uggs and, as you are probably aware, I would rather die than have people think that I was wearing Uggs. Honestly. Literally die. I am not exaggerating in the slightest. Really. Not a jot.

Make a Pig's Ear(ring) of it

Honestly, who in their right mind would wear any of these earrings?

Right?!

A La Mode

Jeez Louise! How awesome is the collaboration between Jean Paul Gaultier and La Perla?

No messing about there, then. That is underwear that is going to get you noticed. But also terribly pretty. And you know the one thing that I have always thought was missing from the old over shoulder boulder holder was satin quilted shoulder pads. Problem solved!

We love you Jean Paul! Particularly when you match yourself to your surroundings. You little French scamplet!

Chinese Whispers

I don't think I've been smoking anything. I don't think so. I would assume I would have noticed if I had been huffing solvents. But I think Holly Valance looks lovely here. Hair crown excepted. Hmm, and not entirely sure about the yeti shrug... but the dress is nice. Liking the high neck, the obi belt and the one long sleeve that almost looks like a tattoo.

Achy Breaky Heart

I have a new girl crush.

I went to see a delightful/silly/delightfully silly French romantic comedy last week called Heartbreaker.

I can't decide which I loved more.

Vanessa Paradis and her lovely pout, gorgeous hair and adorable teeth gap.

Or her insanely delicious wardrobe. Either way, it's love.

Short Fuse

I am pretty obsessed with Preen. I would love to own a Preen dress. That would make me very happy. I would also like to own the kind of body needed to carry off a Preen dress, but that's another story.

So I was quite excited to see the line (Fuse by Preen) for Very.co.uk (which was once Littlewoods, no?). I think there are some quite nice pieces.

And they are super reasonably priced.

(Via Very.co.uk)

But then I made the inconceivable mistake of journeying to Net a Porter to look at the real deal.

Preen Line has this to offer which is making me drool slightly.

Lord knows I love a long zip.

And then the main event...

Sigh! Aren't they just the most beautiful dresses you have ever seen?

Maybe one day... If I'm a very good girl...

The Powers That B

Aaaaaarrrrgggghhhhhhha-ha-ha!

Swap Shop

(Via River Island)

What about this as an alternative to the Russel & Bromley beauty that is too expensive? It is a tenth of the price and that is a fraction I could get excited about. But it is tiny. And you know how much I like to lug around a lot of pointless crap...

The search for a cross body bag is becoming a bit pressing as I want to wear my lovely COS cape and a shoulder bag just will not do in this situation.

I have seen a couple of young ladies struggling to reconcile a shoulder bag with a cape and I'm sorry to say, but it just can't be done. Bunching and gaping do not make for an attractive look, and I refuse to do that to myself.

Like a Bolt From the Blue

(Via Style)

The combination of camel and bright blue denim at Chloe has stolen my heart.

(Via River Island)

I am wondering if I could find a great chunky camel knit to wear with a denim shirt dress, the heeled hiking boots and thick grey ribbed tights. I think that could work.

No Glove, No Love

Holy Toledo, aren't these hideous? The search continues...

Apres Moi le Deluge

Apologies for the lack of posts last week. Our office was flooded so I was without a computer. I will endeavour to make it up to you...

Another String to My Bow

I had hideous tooth ache today after having a wisdom tooth out last week. And so I went in search of something to dull the pain. While I was venturing about in the wilds of Covent Garden I found myself without a shoe. My right foot decided it was time to move on while the shoe decided it was a charming place to rest and take in the view. They have become so relaxed that it is only through faith and the pure determination of my toes gripping that keeps them on at all. Gah! Time for a new pair.

And these are they.

(Via Kurt Geiger)

Aren't they delightful? With a great big stonking glittery bow.

Not sure they are quite adhering to the minimalist vibe, but hey-ho, they are pretty and that's good enough for me.

Barmy Army

I like Toast. (The shop, not the scorched bready snack, although that obviously has its place too.) I really like their marketing and their image. I like their reindeer fur rugs and hurricane lamps.

But I can't excuse these:

(Via Handbag.com)

They are arm warmers. Surely what they are endeavouring to perform a sweater is already successfully carrying out. And with considerably more style. Wouldn't you agree?

Same Old, Same Old

(Via Topshop)

I own this delightful knitted sweater-cape. It is camel. It is minimal. It makes me look terribly grown up. But it is also snuggly and cosy.

At least I thought it was until I saw this.

(Via Handbag.com)

It is Velvet by Graham and Spencer for Uniqlo (got that?!?) and I think I might need to have it. It is cashmere and looks like the knitted equivalent of a cup of hot milk on a wet and miserable day administered by a doting grandmother while you rest your feet on a labrador who is warming himself in front of an open fire.

Hmmm, bliss!

But if I already have the first one, is the second significantly different enough to merit a purchase?

There But For the Grace of God(mother)

Now, what is a girl to wear as the Godmother of her beloved nephew? It is up north in a couple of weeks. The cream floaty Temperley number might be somewhat out of season by then, d'you reckon? But I want to seem chaste and holy and appear like a suitable moral guardian. Tricky, I know.

Any thoughts?
