Swap Shop

(Via River Island)

What about this as an alternative to the Russel & Bromley beauty that is too expensive? It is a tenth of the price and that is a fraction I could get excited about. But it is tiny. And you know how much I like to lug around a lot of pointless crap...

The search for a cross body bag is becoming a bit pressing as I want to wear my lovely COS cape and a shoulder bag just will not do in this situation.

I have seen a couple of young ladies struggling to reconcile a shoulder bag with a cape and I'm sorry to say, but it just can't be done. Bunching and gaping do not make for an attractive look, and I refuse to do that to myself.

It Finally Happened!

After some serious doubts, some soul searching and quite a lot of walking around I have done what I was coming to fear was the impossible.

I have found a cape that I like and that actually likes me back. What are the odds? Usually either you or the cape are more into the other, you know how it is. Either a clingy cape or an indifferent cape. Both of which are entirely tiresome.

But this cape...

Yes, this one here...

This one loves me and I love it back. I think we are going to be very happy together.

Cape Fear

(Via Toast)

So, you know I have been lusting after a cape? Well, my desire took a bit of a cold shower the other day. In Clapham (a place that seems an utterly incongrous location for my First Cape Spotting) I saw a girl wearing a huge navy cape, like a traditional nurse's cape. It went to the floor, and the poor thing was drowning in it. The only excuse for this that I could surmise was that she was actually certifiable. Or indeed certified and had stolen the ward matron's cape as she escaped the confines of a secure unit.

I'm still optimistic that this is a trend that I will want to, ahem, commit myself to. I am waiting with bated breath for the proof and will just put this disturbing experience behind me.

Cape Horn

(Image via WhoWhatWear)

Having just returned from my jungle adventures where I mostly wore mud stained trousers from slipping down muddy banks I treated myself to Elle and have fallen hook line and sinker for the truly delicious concept of rocking a cape.

Or, actually, rocking multiple capes.

Like a smart one (the coral one, the other is a bit too Marple for my disposition).

And a utilitarian one with slim cut trousers and brogues.

I am so excited by the prospect I can barely sleep. Or maybe that's just the jet lag...?

Cape of Good Hope

(Image via Go Fug Yourself)

Gadzooks! What mischief have we here?!

Sure, all power to the woman for being (ssshhh!) a little bit older, and still having thighs that look like that. But dude, do you really need to show them encased in black lace? With Victorian matron boots? And don't even get me started on the cape that seems to be strangling you with its ribbon tie.

And no, that cheeky little sprite expression on your face won't melt my heart and make me change my mind, you naughty little scamp.

Plus, dang! thems some big ole pants.
