Play it By Ear

(Image via Style.com)

I too am undecided about whether it is playful and charming or "hey, look how kooky I am!" thereby making it utterly unappealing.

I am loving it on the Olsens, though, because they can do anything and still look cute. And I totally agree about Ashley, and have done for quite some time.

Playing Up

That lip adorned playsuit is so mega if you don't buy it I am going to have to. It's perfecto!
The playsuit is one of those items that I looked at and thought 'A blouse attached to a SHORT...are you kidding me?! Wouldn't catch me dead in that etc etc ad nauseum.' But I did that with the original heeled gladiators too and now look at me. I'm hopelessly devoted. And I feel that I could be heading that way with the playsuit.

The whole possibility of pant flashing thanks to a gust of wind/inelegant dimousnt from bar stool/insert other potentially embarrassing situ will be happily avoided in a playsuit. I think once you get over wearing an item whose very moniker seems a bit - wrong - and the fact that Katy Perry is forever sporting one, there are just no other negatives and we must buy them ALL up and praise ourselves on our genius.

As an aside, the current 'are you kidding me!' is the knee high gladiator. Please see above. It horrifies me. But at the same time I have the sliiiiightest little nagging feeling that come June I'm going to pop up in one. Serious.

p.s. Whilst I have been writing this the poor girl in the lippy pantsuit has been stomping up and down the catwalk on asos.com. Up and down. Uuuup and dooown. I feel as though I have really overworked her and I am convinced her expression has taken on a slightly dour edge. Another interesting factoid is that each time I meant to type playsuit I added an e making it 'playsuite' which then made me think of bathroom suites, which then made me ponder whether I should ask The Head to paint OUR bathroom a new colour or whether I should leave him in peace and stick only to the kitchen and bedroom and so on and so forth. Which means this post has taken me about an hour and a half to finish. On a day when I said that I would be cracking on too....oh Kerr! I do apologise.
Addendum - At the risk of making this post almost biblical in proportion, I realised that I had failed to answer your 'tshirt or no' question. What a dolt! Yes to the tshirt underneath the strapless PS and yes to a plimsoll. Deffo fabbo.

I have a dream....

(Via Olsen Fan)
Well, I had one. Last night. Featuiring MK, and also starring an enormous and seemingly never ending Dr Seussesque scarf. I think I slept for literally 45 minutes last night and all of those were taken up with this tiny starlet. I won't bore you with the details because nothing of any note ever happens in my dreams. They are just like my normal everyday life but with the odd celebrity thrown in from time to time, or a door that opens into a field or something. Mostly they are just a night time exploration of my daily griping at The Head. BUT it gives me an excuse to post this pic. I swoon every time I see this frock. Good lord, how lovely it is. And how vacuous I apparently am.

Les deux Olsens

I know I shouldn't, but I do. Love them, that is. Both of them. Equally. Look how they pout and are smoky of eye! Although there is always one who seems to be charming me ever so slightly more at each moment of the day that goes by. Quite often it is Ashley. She is the one who looks marginally less like a ragamuffin, isn't she? Yes, that one.

Much in the same way that I love Miss. Swinton, which I know you don't approve of, I can have nothing but love for a pair who know how to rock out an extreme trend without batting an eyelid. So while I might guffaw at someone in the street wearing the devil's own booties, I love them on old MK. And I rather suspect I might love them on you too. Good luck with your dreams of high street ripoffdom.

On another note, I would also like to express my extreme affection for their range Elizabeth and James which I find entirely charming and particularly like the photography on the website as it seems to have a sense of humour while being achingly hip. Quite a rarity.

The Devil's Work

Look! It's little MK Olsen! How I adore her matted hair and her determination to schlep around town with bags that rival her in size slung over her little shoulder. (Actually the other twin might well be taking a wee nap inside that sac, nestled in snugly amongst the fag packets and discarded lipsticks.)

Let's look at her tiny feet. Now when I first saw these Balenciaga boots I thought they were the devils work. I mean, quite literally. They brought to mind Lucifer's cloven hooves. But now I LOVE them. In fact I have dreamt about them for three nights in a row. I really AM that shallow.

I do hope someone on the high street does a lovely rip off errrr, I mean, takes inspiration from them soon.
