Ankle Biter

I love the look of summer dresses with ankle boots, but I feel that the tan coloured ankle boot is a bit tired and played out. Diane Kruger, one of my all time fashion crushes, shows that a darker boot can work too. Possibly because we are only at the very beginning of summer and it doesn't look too heavy yet.

I am truly in love with these navy nubuck Chelsea boots from Russell & Bromley, and think they would look pretty great with dresses and trousers. But I don't have quite the same lithe pins as Ms Kruger, in fact my calf muscles are decidedly robust and muscular, so really it could just be a non-starter.

I've decided against the red lip. I'm always slightly confused about what it says. Sexy and inviting, intimidating and keep your distance, or just plain messy (eating/drinking/2nd date kissing...)?

I've tried to copy Diane Kruger instead with her lovely eyeliner. Sigh! Isn't she pretty?!

And I stumbled upon the best ever product last night. It is a gel eyeliner from Maybelline but it is actually a pot of gloop and a brush and it works really well. Good and black, neat line, easy to apply and the damn stuff just won't budge. I love it!

Oh, and I'll let you know how the date goes next week.

I'd quite like to try it with this dress. But is it too bright? Diane's is a little more neutral. Will I look like I've been huffing smoothie flavoured jelly beans?

Plus, don't even get me started on how seemingly impossible it is to find turquoise shoes.

P.S. Ha! I only just noticed as I scrolled down that Michelle Obama is also rocking a similar colour combo! It's happened twice, people, it must be a trend!

Crop Up

You know what? When Diana Vickers was on The X Factor wielding around that sodding claw hand I wanted to rip the damn thing off and beat her with it. And yes, thanks, the anger management classes are coming along well...

Well, I think she might finally be safe from me. Partly because whoever is managing her has clearly been inflicting some cruel techniques to counter the claw instinct. Nicely done.

And partly because they have given her some really good styling. How adorable is she in this outfit?

I am really loving the combination of the high waist and the crop top. I have seen it a few times and I think it works really nicely. Definitely the only way to work the crop.

Unless you are La Kruger, of course.



Because she laughs in the face of rules and indeed common sense.

I think this dress is dreamy. I wonder if she is blessed with a very perky bosom or if there are some kind of reinforcements under there. Beautiful colour, print and shape.
